    Brouwerij IJ IPA
    Kompaan Bloed Broeder
Doctor Brew Azacca Single Hop IPA

Two solid Dutch brews but the standout for me is Doctor Brew from Poland. Fantastic citrus IPA from a little known hop variety to me. Really sets the bar high for the rest of the beers to sample from the batch from there.

I quite enjoyed it but then again it was free with my work pass. Good context for the general situation in the 1650s-early 1700s.

    Beers I had on Saturday:
Siren Craft Pompelmocello - grapefruit focused sour IPA, pretty nice, not as intense as the limoncello was.
Magic Rock High Wire in can - awesome. One of my favourite pale ales, glad it's now available in cans.
Weird Beard A Lemon Tree My Dear Watson - Billed as a lemon meringue pie beer. A little underwhelming in the flavour.
Thornbridge Eldon - very nice stout, chocolatey notes but don't really get any of the bourbon from it.
Wild Beer Brett Brett Double IPA - My favourite new beer this weekend. A bit like Orval, just all around great beer.
Titanic Cappuccino - Nice! Had this a couple of times before too.
Robinsons Steam Lager - Meh. I liked their 9 Hop IPA but this felt off for the style.

Yesterday I went to a Sam Smiths pub and I was amazed to find how cheap the beer was. Unfortunately the stout was off, but 4 pints (Old Brewery Bitter, Taddy Lager, Dark Mild, Light Mild) cost about £6. The beers aren't great but you can't argue with that price. Later on I had a Black Jack Gyle 700 on keg. Nice, similar to the Wild beer one, only not quite as good.

That Sam Smith pub sounds great, which one was it? By those prices I'm assuming it's nowhere near London though

It's in Manchester, but not in the city centre.

    Here it is:

I've never been in even though I lived near thee for years
Warned off the place by my dad
Think it was something to do with its keg history & clientele lol

another visit to the always excellent Hawkshead Beer Festival, only a few disappointing beers with the odd weird combination that seems to be popular proving a waste of effort. Just because you can throw something in the brew kettle doesn't mean you should!
Magic Rock, Cloudwater, Roosters and Vocation proved to be very enjoyable. Hawkshead, who had 17 beers on, were faultless, Iti, NZPA, Windermere Pale, Brodies Prime, Brodies Prime Export, Great White Chuckleberry Sour were all top notch and the standout was the new Northern Imperial Stout, hard to believe that it was only brewed 3 months ago so very very good.
Also some nice beers from Brass Castle, Northern Monk, Marble, Blackjack...
Would be nice to see some different breweries at the Summer Festival.

Just a bottle of Kernel Pale Ale - Cascade Citra. Lovely, though just a tad on the thin side, which would really work if it wasn't a cold, cloudy day.

I'd never been in either as it looks unappealing, but I managed to convince the other half to go in there last night and was pleasantly surprised by the beer choice. Was alright in there although we did catch some of the post city-United crowd so it did get a bit rowdy. We then went in the red lion and I had a ringwood mauler which was surprisingly nice and hoppier than expected.

Back the other side of London, with a pint of Dorset Brewing Company's Chesil Pils, illustrating perfectly how hard it is to do a good cask lager. Eurgh. Needs more fizz!

Evening can of Magic Rock Rapture. Looooads of sediment. Lovely and cheap (relatively) at the realale.com shop at £2.10. Picked up some other cans too - To Øl Goes to Hollywood gose, Firestone Walker Pivo Pils, and Evil Twin / 7venth Sun Citra Sunshine Slacker.

First day of work, exploiting the staff discount we get in some local pubs with a pint of Firestone Walker Easy Jack (@20% off too, although that still leaves it at over £4). Really nice, a bit more substance than many session IPAs, good crisp bite. Pretty much how I want hoppy lagers to be when I have them.

Didn't think I'd have any ale today but a £5 off Lidl shop of £40 freed up beer money
Only thing is limited to 2 alcoholic purchases
Ignored the Shep Neame Rugby related beers on the seasonal Isle
& will be sampling tonight the Green Gecko IPA
    & Purple Panther Porter
    Last night
The Brewdog Jet Black Heart gave a lot of coffee & Chocolate for a 4.7 % beer from a supermarket
Goose IPA not only was an ale that nearly slipped past me as I swear blind I'd sampled it before & had it in my head it was fair to middling
    However I hadn't and it's a nice Citra showcase
    Brewdog This.Is.Lager however
Has an amazing foaming white head
    Otherwise it looks
Smells & (presumably) tastes like piss

Had 2 Tempest - Farmhouse Ales & 2 Williams Bros. - Double Joker IPA's tonight from Aldi for less than £7.

Liked the Farmhouse Ale, mild saison flavour, but a bit flat.

No need to say anything about the Joker DIPA...it's fab.

Steve Grossman from Sierra Nevada was in town doing a whistle stop tour of bars where different SN beers were on offer along with some tasty nibbles. Started with Pale Ale, then Nooner, Celebration, Hophunter, Torpedo and finishing with the new Tropical IPA. Not a bad beer among them.

I had the Beavertown Bloody 'Ell and I didn't get much orange from it. It was a decent IPA, but I think the orange got washed out. I also had a Left Hand Hard Wired (Nitro Coffee Porter), that was pretty great. I have always liked stuff from Left Hand and was happy to see that it was available. I grabbed a second one because it was priced wrong at the store. £2.75 each, haha.

Picked up a mini keg of Brass Castle Wallop (Whisky cask) last weekend for a bargain price of £15 as it was a few weeks past its best before date.

Opened it today & crikey it's good!
