Agreed. I think the unfiltered "hazy" ipa is more than just a trend. Heady was consistently the number one rated beer on BA prior to the new rating system for years. And in regards to trillium and treehouse and HF, all their ipas/dipas are unfiltered. Their refinement is what puts them in another level.

If I was truly interested in promoting my site I would have posted here years ago. Someone ask if that was my sight. I responded Hardly promotion.

Oh i could care less if you promote your site, just found it interesting you felt this was the place to interject for the first time. Presumably to stir the shit with Hoof more? Or just to educate us that we are wrong for liking a certain style of beer or brewery that you obviously don't understand. God I'd swear this hazy beer debate is worse than religion or politics.

I don't know if I would want to trust a guys "beer review" that thinks citra smells like a "wet dishrag left in a plastic bag for three days". Having brewed with citra the day before having that beer (and a few times prior), it was identical in aroma. Put that beer and the bag of 2015 harvest citra from yakima under your nose and I highly doubt you could tell a difference.

    Just saying.

Not sure where I said or implied this. I merely commented on the staying power of it.

I don't review beers for anyone else but myself. Never put myself out there as some expert like you consider yourself after brewing with citra "a few times."

To be fair (and I'm a lover of Hoof), that beer was far and away my least favorite from them. It smelled great. And upon my first taste of it at a tasting I was at, I loved it. But I've had two cans since, and both tasted like green onions to me. I'm wondering if my palate being wrecked at the tasting contributed to me liking it. In either case, I was disappointed to see that my subsequent tastes of it were so off putting.

I'm not a brewer so I'm by no means an expert, but my problem with the HH beers is that it seems like they're being released too young. When I try the beers on draft at the release or open a can within, say, the first week of canning, all I taste is yeast. It hasn't always been this way, but it seems to be happening more and more as time goes by.

This doesn't seem to be a widespread complaint, so maybe it's just my palate. However, it is pretty disappointing having to wait a week before I can open something.

You aren't alone. Give them a couple weeks and the beers taste much better. The yeast is quite overpowering the first couple of days/first week to me. Or at least I think it's the yeast  South of Eleven was an exception to this but now it looks like that's not the case. South of Eleven was my favorite but this new batch looks extremely different.

Since Jampics and Double EE know beer so well maybe they should do a collab with Hoof one day. They can brew a gose together since they seem so salty all the time.

Sometimes this feels like the BA Mexican Cake thread. They should just can Mom Jeans next and take a break from the IPAs/PAs.

This whole threadshitting crap is how this bad boy will get locked down. Can we agree that others can have varying opinions of a beer and move back towards civil discussion? Opinions may not flow with that of the masses, but folks are allowed to have them.

Wasn't this started as an appreciation thread? If you don't like Hoof Hearted, that's fine, but why bother coming in here, let alone posting?

I thought they had mentioned on Instagram that they were barrel aging mom jeans for 750 ML bottles. These should be out soon.

To go along with this… I agree with what @BuckeyeBeerhead said, it was my least favorite EWS so far. But had two the last two weeks and it is much better than it did the day or week of canning.

I enjoy the taste of their brew and could care less about the visuals. Small breweries almost always have variation in their beers and obviously more so if they are refining their product. But again, for me the taste is what matters. I think HH is another asset to the OH beer scene in general and not sure why there is so much to do about the clarity of their beer.

Wow, so you're bad at tasting beers, finding beers and now making jokes. Must suck to be so bad at everything.

I don't think there is anything wrong with appreciating a brewery but also offering an opinion on their beers. Opinions offer sources of dialogue and open discussion. I'll be the first to say I really like the business practices of Hoof, the can art looks great, and I enjoy SOME of their beers. I bought roller blade and didn't like it at all. Bought South of Eleven and think it is a great beer. I don't think I am wrong in saying that I appreciate Hoof Hearted, but don't like all of their beers. Cheers.

Maybe some of the cans of the citra were on and off, I was banking big on the can I got, that I held onto it and muled it to texas to share with a friend from florida. He is a brewer down there and was shitting on the cloudy IPAs. I was pretty confident it would blow him away and put ohio on his map. Sad to say the beer tasted off compared to the others I've had from hoof. Usually nothing I have from hoof I rate less than a four, even on a wrecked palate from a night of drinking, you can still tell great beer from average, and the citra was below average as a first beer of the night. Even the color was so off, it was super brown:
