Centrifugation has many positive effects on the beer. Check out this post from another highly regarded brewery - Great Divide. The centrifuge actually lends itself to the beer being more of a "big hazy" delight.

A centrifuge is essentially a filter. It spins the yeast out of the beer without removing hop flavors like a normal filter can. I really don't understand how it can increase yield unless they're running the entire fermenter through it including the trub.

How much time does it take to hire a college aged kid to come in every other Saturday and give them an IPAD with a credit card reader? 7 or 8 months seems like a reasonable amount of time to get that done.

Valid point and good question. Not sure, seems like a reasonable solution though.

A fellow BA and college buddy (@joltinmatt ) will be in NYC for a wedding at the end of next month and will be staying in Brooklyn. We're planning to stop at OH on Saturday, 4/23. Neither of us has been before. If that happens to be a release day is there any chance we'll be able to get a seat within a reasonable amount of time? Thanks in advance for any info and/or advice.

It looks like that is a release day but even on off days you may not get a seat. There is literally one picnic table to sit at.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe my question was too specific. We're not concerned with whether or not we have a seat; we just want to get in without an unreasonable wait and drink in a reasonably comfortable space, whether that be seated or standing. And yes, we're familiar with the beer scene these days (albeit not in NYC) so our conception of "reasonable" is hopefully properly calibrated.

I'm not sure Other Half is every really "comfortable" per se, but if you go later in the day once the rush from the release has died down - maybe after 3pm or so - it should be a little quieter.

Given the likely increased demand since this is a three-can release and includes a new one, how early would you recommend arriving at OH if someone had to be in and out of there by 10:15 or 10:30 at the very latest?

10:15 or 10:30, I would say be in line at 6:30am the latest. They open at 10 and you have to be one of the first 25 people or so if you want to be out that fast. This is for almost all Other Half releases though, not unique to this one.

It depends on whether or not you want cans. If you want cans it will be several hours waiting, and then a crowded taproom/long growler waits. If you don't care about cans, come later in the day and it will be much more comfortable.

Hell, I would rather stand there and operate a POS terminal for 4+ hours and still pay for my allotment than stand in a line that moves at a snails pace. Patience is not a virtue I possess.

Damn, I was afraid someone would say something like that. Was hoping to get responses around 8 a.m. Oh well, might have to abandon the ACE chase and hope they have the other cans still available later that afternoon.

    Get Wheated is awesome.
The other day my older brother, who rarely drinks beer, took a sip of my glass when I was having it and said "That's fucking juice!". Thought it was funny because he's not even familiar with the beer scene or the popularity of juice bomb ipa's and has no bias so you could say OH and Burial definitely nailed the juiciness on that one (although I do find it to be a bit boozy).

How will this weekend fair in comparison to other releases in your estimation?
    1- standard OH shit show
    2- above average craziness
3- cancel all plans for Saturday?
