I hear you. It's definitely the tastier sounding bottles in a while... I don't see a perfect way. I would prefer no proxies though.

And at 300 cases each. It will be fun!

Agreed with many above that this seems like an odd "compromise", since 1) there wasn't really anything wrong with previous liberations, and 2) it's not clear what problems this solution would solve anyway, besides making sure some lucky fuckwits in Michigan or wherever can get bottles without even having to trade.

I'm also wondering about the bottle share. The optimist in me hopes that Barrelworks would have some nice stuff on tap, à la past liberations, or at the very least, they'd break out a 3L or something. The pessimist in me remembers the couple cheese trays at the anny party and expects zilch. Not that they're obliged to provide anything—it's just the kind of nice little perk that can take an event from "enjoyable" to "I forgive you for Parabajavagate" (holy shit that's a lot of "a"s).

Actually they have fantastic servers...crappy load balancing. #howtobe_anerd

Edit: Had to break up that hashtag since I re-read it and was concerned some would take it the wrong way. =P

Yeah, not real happy about the proxy situation. Krieky Bones sold out in what? 2 minutes? Even without allowing proxies, having a month long pickup window makes this much more accessible to folks within CA and beyond which would increase demand on its own.

i realize that the Parabajava thing has been discussed to death but just to put into perspective how ridiculous it is...

the release was Nov 27th.. 4 months ago. and they still have bottles

yes, we've all been told the tale by jemma wilson about the mishap they had, and people were apologized to (and some were also insulted too).. i just am impressed only a few cases have lasted this long. maybe Matt Brynildson is actually a real live wizard and has found a way to replicate the bottles

in other news, looking forward to peachy bones

Anyone know if proxies need to be named at time of purchase or if they can be added afterwards?

Yeah, if you keep this pace up you won't be allowed at any brewery by the end of 2017

I mean, let's not even mention Parabajava with all this. Their liberations, aside from selling fast, had a system that worked well enough.

I think it probably was pressure from on high to cut back on liberation events and do more of the windowed pick up system. Which will draw a bigger crowd and have more folks try to proxy it. Even with smaller limits, it just means a case stretches from 2 people getting 6pp to 3 with 4pp. Not really that much more, and in fact, if it sells quickly enough, I'm curious if many folks are going to have that quick trigger enough to get a max of both of them.

Add in BPT having a tendency to take a dive when it's hit up hard and these sounding like really promising bottles... fuck, I'm actually more worried about this than I was of the last few liberations.

I mean, at the very least I do have the ammo from going to all the liberations thus far to land these, I guess, but yeah. This one is going to be a stressful F5 session to get.

With such a low count, I don't understand the proxy option, and at 4pp too... I'd feel better about it if there weren't proxies.

I'm also a little concerned about the bottle share. I remember the old parking lot share days of the first few liberations and there was a lot of "Show me yours and I'll show you mine" mentality when it came to pouring for others.

Hell, that's where I first had a bad taste in my mouth from CASA since that one dude who they cut ties with was basically selecting who he would give a taste of his beers to in exchange for likes on their instagram feed, and even with that, he was very much only giving it out to his friends, all while still pushing for folks to fill his cup.

The concept of a bottle share can and will vary from folks. So the collective group showing up is going to be interesting in what we see in who shows up to that. Especially with the beer cliques and how they sort of hover together as is.

Also factor that the liberations are unlimited pours, but they have the control on what is being poured and don't typically go too crazy when it comes to ABV beast. I can easily see a bottle share become a bit of a shit show drunk fest with a couple of guys bringing those Bruery ABV bombs and not having much regulation when it comes to having the house control pouring. Not sure how improved this will be over liberations. I guess time will tell. I can see potential problems with just having it be a bottle share free for all.

I sent their marking team an email on this. But curious, will this latest liberation be a closed event April 15th to only people purchasing? I just want to drive up and try these on tap, not getting bottles.

I hope it's handled better than the Iron Triangle bottle share

From their marketing people at FW, Barrelworks will be open to the public Saturday April 16th for the pick-up release and you can proxy for someone even if you don't buy bottles. Just in case that was unclear to anyone else besides me. See you playaz there

Really digging the idea of picking up at my own convenience. Means I can go mid week and miss the crowd. Liberation parties are always a great time but it's great to see them trying something new to see if it works.

Free, hands-free distribution...Adding proxies obviously proliferates this aspect. I'm fine with it.
