    Well that just sucks. I pretty much ignored the first batch because I figured it was just another X-Hops beer that would be good but not great.

    Now I'm just depressed. How the hell am I going to be able to toss around my beer knowledge superiority and honestly tell everyone that X-Hops Gold out of Decorah is way better than X-Hops Gold out of Brewhub in Florida when they start putting it in cans? I might as well just pour my bottles of batch 2 down the drain... :wink:

    Yup, I'm thankful for the relationship between Need and Pulpit Rock. Their beers are solid. Better than several established Iowa breweries, IMO.

    We've driven 3 hours each way to go to the tap room. Usually it's for a special release (Nelson Schmelson, King Sue, etc.), but we have driven up just to hit the taproom with TG noobs (especially before it was so readily available in bottles).

    We're trying to work a trip with 3 couples...TG, PR, & Mabes. I forgot that Seed Savers was there too. If we can work it out sooner than later, that'll save me from having stuff shipped.

    Like I said

    If you drink according to lists you're doing it wrong

    Only the TG Appreciation thread could take a turn into having close to a consecutive page discussing another brewery.

    Here are my thoughts on visiting Decorah: I don't like pineapple sculpin.

    I recently had the Golden Nugget and Pompeii by TG...hooked! Probably the best IPAs I've ever had. Agreed, loving what TG is doing.

    next time you go ask for their gateway ipa, i'm sure they'll know exactly what you're referring to;
    I never claimed that's the name of the beer, if you're going to try to discredit my comment at least learn to correctly interpret my post.
    and yes I do find the top beers on ba helpful as it's a resource for trying new ipas.

    Agree on the Saftig. It's a delicious juice bomb; my wife called it a beermosa. I made a couple trips to Need for the Saftig also. I thought the pour over porter was really good (for a porter) as well. I'm a big TG fan, but if I was making the trip to Decorah anytime soon I'd swing by Pulpit Rock first just to try something new. All of their beers I've had I've really enjoyed.

    I've been to TG a few times now and PR a couple times. We try to hit both when we have time. It's a great environment too. Still have not been there when they've had Mr Hoppypants though... :slight_frown:

    Which is why you order an entry level IPA made for people new to IPAs/beer. Makes sense.

    This bigbadwanger guy is the biggest troll I've ever seen... entertaining though I suppose.

    Back on topic, was there anymore news on Driftless at all? Wondering what kind of flavor(s) or type of stout? All I saw was, "It will be on tap at the taproom and possibly some distro."
