This is really unfortunate if true. I traded my last 2 BBIMM at KBS week. I never would have done that had I known of potential issues. Also my good friend from Colorado and I do a tasting every July and he has been really excited to try Hipster. I keep everything stored in my basement, out of light, and in about 52-58 degrees any given time. Man what a total bummer if true. Guess I'll have to Crack one open to find out. But if this is the case, I would never write off a breery because of this. Odd Side is doing some amazing things and if anything they'll learn from this and correct for the future.

Now off to the bottle shop before work to pick up some Goodnight Bodacious!

Totally forgot bout this beer. I got a bottle and guzzled it. Was awesome. Don't doubt it's sour now...

I have an issue throwing good money at bad. Even if/when they iron out the issue in the future, they way they are treating their customers now is the issue. It lacks professionalism or corporate responsibility.

What if the paint on your new car started peeling after 5 months and the manufacturer said "the one we have here in the showroom isn't peeling, it must be how you are taking are of it". Would you be inclined to purchase another vehicle from that manufacturer?

Yikes. I have a few bottles left of Hipster, Mokka, and Hazel's. Anyone know if Hazel's has had issues recently? From the first or second batch?

Will be trying all this weekend to check 'em out.

I absolutely hear you. I got all my Hipsters via trade, so I didn't quite throw down the money some did and completely understand where you're coming from. I enjoy a lot of Odd Side core beers and their sours have been very good as well. I hope they can right the ship with their barrel aged beers if indeed these issues ring true. I'm a firm believer in second chances and I'd be willing to give them one more shot. I always buy used cars so I would never run into that problem.

The post I was quoting implied it, at least that's how I interpreted it. Pasteurization also kills the yeast just the same.

Well, they have a chance to resolve this with customers now.

Hazels is 100% fine, if not a little better since the release. I've had at least one a week.

I just can't believe you folks think aging beers like this is a wise idea. Any beer that has these types of ingredients mingled, unless 15% ABV, says to me "drink asap". Also, a fridge IMHO is much better for beer storage than a cellar.

I don't think at this point anybody is "aging" anything. We are talking a few months, not a few years. I know I haven't had a chance to drink all that I bought. Too many good beers in the cellar and every now and then it's an Odd Side. Fortunately BAIMM isn't one of my top beers so I only bought a few, and was only able to get a few Hipster. Have more Hazels though. I just can't see how a few months is considered "aging". If this were a normal beer in distro, it would still be sitting on shelves in some stores. So is my Bourbon Evil Urges I bought last fall a shit of a mess now too?

Not sure if sarcasm? Less than 5 months on a BA stout does not aging make...or some shit like that. I started tuning Yoda out.

My apologies, I don't have much of a beer collection or experience in this realm, it's just a thought that came to me. Honestly, I thought this release was longer ago.

The ingredients that are used is the main issue that I had on my mind.

BBA Evil Urges will most likely be fine. I have one left, so I'll let you know if otherwise.

It's all good. I can for sure see the flavors fading with time, but not going sour. Last batch of MM and Hipster seemed to hold up ok. The latest batch should be able to do the same.

I have not been aging these on purpose, just have too much beer to drink in the cellar. All mine have been kept cold in the fridge. I have been hit or miss with BBIMM (most have been fine) being tart and have had a few off Hipster bottles. All Mokka and Hazel's have been fine.

The release(s) were in Oct/Nov of 2015. I would think that any beer should have at least a 6 month shelf life (unless otherwise noted at time of purchase by the brewery). My beer has been stored in the fridge, except for the BBAIMM I purchased off the shelf of a retailer a month after the brewery release.

True, but this isn't the first release of MW, BBAIMM or Hipster. Assuming they were made with the same recipe/ingredients as prior batches, said bottles from prior batches are still holding up extremely well, in the same storage conditions. This is another reason why people dump mounds of cash to buy cases of these beers. There's a precedent set that these beers age well and are relatively stable, at least a year out.

The first Hipster release the coffee faded quicker than the maple and made the beer taste different, not bad, I like maple forward beers. I went in expecting this to change quicker than a normal adjunct stout, but not necessarily for the worse. I had one about 10 days ago from the basement (not refrigerated) and it tasted fine, although it was after about 5 other beers. Will be trying another tonight.

Because the other beers are not infected. People try beers that they anticipate they will like. When they don't enjoy it, they can't fathom not liking it because they have been trained to believe they will. This leads to the logic that something must be wrong with the beer, so they claim it is infected.

Morningwood was sour and Oddside has acknowledged this and replaced the bottles. Hipster, BBIMM, Mokka Munt, Hazels are all fine.
