Which proves my point that your preferences lie with the West coast approach. You're entitled to that opinion.

Careful... though tempting, those 5 on the same night will lead to bad morning after.

Good to know @whiskey. I've seen this and a few others here in the HB area but have not stopped in yet. Been to the new Simmzy's in HB. Nothing special there. Great views. When I do look on taphunter I really never see anything good on. I know BTs always got something good on. Plus the food is a bonus.

I'll second Hi-Res, and emphasize the original Resin. Resin is an accessible year-round shelf DIPA that can occupy a space in my fridge any day (and often does). Hi-Res has been excellent every year, albeit tweaked (and, I feel, improving every year), but it is seasonal.

Other @Sixpoint brews well worth trying out:

"X"Beans - any and all of the Beans series have been fantastic.
The Crisp - despite the annoying name ("I'd like a The Crisp," just makes it sound like you're doing a really stereotypical and poor Italian accent), this is a very tasty hoppy Pilsner.
Bengali/Bengal Tiger - tasty hoppy brew with a bit more of a malty kick.
Sensei - while I'm not the hugest fan of this fresh hop brew, lots of people swear by it.

It's also worth giving a go for any of their seasonal/one-off Mad Scientist releases. RAD was pretty darn enjoyable.

Overall, Sixpoint provides some awesome brews (particularly of the hoppy variety), in an inexpensive and accessible format, and in cans (if that's your thing). I can't emphasize enough how consistently excellent fresh Resin is, and it's so easily available.

At least in San Diego (so I would expect OC/LA too), it is already here in the distribution warehouse but not being given to the bottle shops until first week in April...just out of reach.

I had Alpine Nelson with Mosaic flowers on cask last nigh at BW, simply insane, maybe the best Nelson I have ever had and I have been drinking it for 10+ years.

    Cheers…..

Guessing this was LB? I had Nelson on cask with simcoe at SB last night and it didn't even taste like Nelson to me. Much preferred Dude Looks Like an IPA and 1Up.

No it was SB. With this recipe you got the true expression of the Nelson hops, that massive pop of sweet citrus was insane, and the nose was amazing. What it didn't have and I didn't really miss it, was the obvious rye notes, but this was not intended to mimic the OG Nelson obviously with the Simcoe flower addition and I really liked the way the Simcoe meshed with the Nelson hops as well.

    Cheers……..

Good call on the missing rye. I thought the beer was good but not exceptional like I was hoping.

I could definitely see that if you were looking for "cask Nelson " it wasn't in the traditional vein of what we know as Nelson. When I saw the addition of Simcoe and no rye I knew this was just a new Nelson recipe and took it at that and it blew us all away in our group, were you there for Curry ? Fun time last night and some amazing IPAs on the board.

    Cheers…...

Yep, love curry night. Thought the pork vindaloo and veggie biryani were the standouts but they were all good. Great times.
