Carton Brewing (March 2016)

I did the Cosmonaut three different ways:

(1) On tap at Carton
(2) From the fridge at home
(3) Room temperature at home

Best one by far was room temperature. And this was without even knowing there was a suggestion on the can.
If you drink it cold, you are doing your palate a serious disservice.

As it warmed the bitterness smoothed out and I started to get the strawberry from the ice cream.

 

HopPun back on at the brewery, Cosmonaut cans still around too @ 4/4pks pp. No new cans though . . . have to imagine HopPun is getting canned too. It's possible they're even canning it as I type, but don't have it listed on Facebook yet - that was the case for Cosmonaut when the Wednesday post went up on Facebook. Sorry can't link it, blocked at work

I am down that way for the weekend. I was hoping for some new cans but looks like not this week.

 

I wouldn't rule out a Saturday session - usually they don't make mention of the weekend session until morning of Saturday.

 

Kelly's Growlers in Belleville has Grape Swisher, Red Rye, Carton of Milk and B.D.G. for any North Jersey Carton fans.

 

I never noticed that before. I have edited my post accordingly.

 

Yeah, they split their posts by Wed-Fri and Sat-Sun... and Monday if it's a holiday.

 

I knew there was an update post with regard to what was available. I just never noticed the hours were split up like that. I guess my Saturday stop at Carton is back on.

 

Indeed.

Also, if something from the tap changes on say... a Friday, you won't see a new post. They usually go back and edit their Wednesday post. So whatever is posted on Wednesday, won't necessarily be that way by Friday. At least in regards of taps!

But you're going on Saturday so you get a fresh list.

 

How is Red's Rye Returning? Just got a keg!

 

I've noticed that before. I think someone on BA posted there was such n such in cans and I was like, "huh?" Went back and saw they changed it. They've done that a few times.

 

Good balance between hop and malt, with a decent amount of rye spice. Really tasty

 

077XX from 3/10 still in the fridge but I guess not enough to last, so they didn't list it. To answer my own question about SDS, the cans are dated 1/8. And there's plenty of Cosmonaut still. My growler fill of Hoppun is tasting excellent!

I'm a big fan. What time should I come over to help tap it?

 

I had red rye on cask at the brewery a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Good keg choice

 

I haven't had the rye in a long time. It'd be nice if they did a canning run for it.

 

Rye is on cask currently. Also, I think I remember seeing a can label for it floating around at some point. It's a Rye IPA for sure - very hoppy. Good, underappreciated Carton beer. Like most of them.

 

077XX was listed for all of a day along with BOAT, Cosmo, and Gilded. I was able to snag a 4-pack. I'm pretty sure it fell victim to the "edit beast" - because I didn't see it the next day along with BOAT.
