Senior supervisor/assistant manager for a small liquor store here in Alberta, Canada. While we are one of the smallest stores in one of the largest chains, we pride ourselves on being that friendly little neighborhood liquor store. We have a growing number of regular customers and a great network of sales representatives who help bring in exotic and new product. If you have any questions about the liquor industry in Alberta, chances are I'll know the answer and then some.

In more recent news, the ALSA is considering allowing the sales of legal marijuana to be done primarily by dispensaries (duh) and liquor stores. Definitely an interesting new product, that's for sure.

Don't. Find someplace that will let you focus more. I have to juggle a lot of different things, and frankly I often feel over-diversified.

This is basically what I do as well. I love the interactions with the individuals and I hope I'm making a positive difference, but we're on the slippery slope to touchy-feely and we spend a ton of time doing busy work instead of actual support. Now with the onset of managed care, it's only going to get worse.

That gig selling butt scratchers at the ball park is looking better all the time.

Many times I've been hurt on the job and my bosses always have this kind of "Well you COULD press charges against the client, but the company will probably drop them..." type response. Basically making you feel helpless. Thankfully, our most violent client is back in the state hospital where he belongs, but for a few months there, the possibility of getting punched in the face was very real and this place makes you feel like there's no real protection afforded to you. Plus I once got in trouble for tackling and holding down a guy who was trying to run into traffic until the police could come and take him to be evaluated. My job would have literally rather me let him kill himself than me "restrain" him. It's just bizarre to me what we allow and we don't allow.

I am the Benefits Specialist at national headquarters for employees of a non-profit company. Our mission is to advocate for people with intellectual disabilities. I'm the only baby in the office and just wish people would take me seriously. I'm so sick of hearing demeaning remarks like "He's so cute!" and "Whose a good baby?". I want to be recognized for my abilities just like everyone else.
