Anheuser-Busch bringing Estrella Jalisco to U.S.

Looks like AB-INBev is going to take on Constellation Brands and Corona. That might be fun to watch.

Nevermind that the growth in craft is roughly the same as Mexican imports....

It is an established brand in Mexico. There are a number of reasons to "pass" on this beer but I would suggest the name is lower on that list.

I'd gladly drink one next time I'm at a Mexican restaurant. Not gonna be a regular thing for me but I'll give it a try

 

This is the second attempt by AB-InBev to replace Corona* in their US portfolio, they started bringing Montejo in in 2014.

And they did a similar move after InBev lost Labatt brand in the US.

which didn't prove very successful.

* Granted, by the 1990s AB owned half of Grupo Modelo but

I thought ABI bought up Modelo recently, did I hallucinate that? And they had to sell distro rights to Constellation?

ABI bought Grupo Modelo and, by agreement with the US DoJ, had to sell Constellation the US rights (not just distribution) to Corona and the other GM brands and their largest, most modern brewery in Nava, Mexico.

The only Mexican-born actress I've heard of is Selma Hayak. Is Estrella Jalisco Mexican? If so, she must be an up and coming starlet from the area where Tequila is produced. Too bad I don't pay attention to the gossip shows.

 

Not my favorite category, but to not try is to deny yourself the possibility of discovery.
