+1 for being pissed off that Randy is out at Calvert Woodley. I'll Definitely follow him to the next bottle shop and most likely will shop at CW a little less

I wouldn't hold up Duchesse as an example of a highly sour beer, it's way too sweet for me to think of as being very sour. Jacobins Rouge, yes fairly sour.

I recently asked Cascade why the markup on their beers seem wildly higher than other breweries. They said "We set prices at Barrel House. Prices at retail are marked up by distributors & retailers, which we legally can't control."

If that is true, why would the markup on Cascade be so ridiculously high? (40% over their own retail price in this example)

I happen to think Cascade makes amazing beers but $20 (which it costs at the Barrel House) is steep enough, and paying $28 is almost certifiably crazy.

$28 is crazy cheap compared to NYC! This stuff is all $35 here, minimum. I see it on the shelves and just laugh.

Id think a 40% markup is common over wholesale cost up to 100%

But it's 40% over retail cost, not wholesale. I would think/hope Cascade would charge the distributors less than the $20 retail cost. And $28 is cheap from what other people have said so in NYC, it's a 75% retail markup.

Just using Avery as example, they sell their 12 oz sours for $12 at their brewery and it usually retails in stores at about $13-$15, which would be a 8-25% markup.

Many of their releases are actually $25 or $30 at the Barrel House. I believe the Sang series is $30, so that's only a 13% mark-up for the prices quoted above.

Edit: Dug up a receipt from 2013 when they were still shipping:

    2012 Project Sang Noir 750ml bottle | $25.00
2011 Project Vlad the Imp Aler 750ml bottle | $30.00
    2012 Project The Vine 750ml bottle | $20.00
    2012 Project Strawberry - 750ml bottle | $20.00
    2012 Project Apricot 750ml bottle | $20.00
    2012 Project Kriek - 750ml bottle | $20.00
    2012 Project Figaro 750ml bottle | $25.00

If you're looking for Pataskala Red X IPA, there seems to be more Stone Mixed IPA Packs out. Luckily, one store seemed to turn one into singles. 2/2/16 bottle date, but I just couldn't wait until MD decided to bring in the regular 6-packs.

Anyone see Enjoy By 04.20 in MD? Stone says it's here but I haven't seen it yet. Did I miss it or is it just at the distributor?

Highly doubt you missed it, stuff sits around for a while now, well past the EB date...especially the bombers for $9-10.
