Kind of late to the party but thought I'd chime in. Bought lost abbey releases in the past but decided to skip out on ad idem and V017 for many reasons. Many people probably think that $41 for a bottle of a quality beer is reasonable, cause hell, that is what you most likely pay for a good bottle of wine. There lies the problem. Beer can be brewed pretty much anywhere, in sunny san diego or a warehouse in minneapolis. Wine prices are justified given the fact that there are land requirements for the vineyards and the fact that grapes can only be grown in certain climates where land is usually very expensive. Historically the Lost Abbey used to release veritas once a year, but why not cash in on a cash crop that you've got sitting right at your disposal. Hell, the Lost Abbey could release Veritas 018 next month at $60 a bottle and I'm sure people would jump at the opportunity to buy 4 bottles. "This is America, you're either a duper or dupee"

Maybe you shouldn't be spending so much money on beer if your finances are that tight? I'd definitely not be spending a third of my liquid resources on beer, no matter how rare/awesome it was.

Also, go to the grocery store and get a loose baguette and some fruit. That'll run you less than $2 for a reasonable lunch.

I just stepped outside and noticed a boot on my car for unpaid parking tickets. The cost is $300 which I would have had if these extra charges had not occurred. Now I can't even get to the store to buy a three day old baguette.

    This is getting bad folks...

If you use a credit card it won't pull from your precious lunch fund... or your parking ticket fund.

Sounds like you wish you had other people's money because you can't adequately manage your own.

You need to find someone in your life to help you with financial decisions. Why didn't you pay the parking tickets? Forget the beer until you can afford it. If I were in your shoes, I'd be calling Lost Abbey to try to get all three charges dropped, not just the two extras.

I'm not judging being in a hard place financially - I've been broke as shit and it sucks. But if you are that broke, don't go and spend your money on things you can't afford - and anything Lost Abbey makes falls into that category. Use that money to pay your parking tickets, save up a bit of a buffer so you're not living month-to-month, etc.

Right, but if he's going to complain on a public forum about his spending habits then I'm free to criticize and judge as I want.

So you stated you werent judging but now you just said you are judging? Also he wasnt complaining about his spending habits he was complaining about LA/nexternal fucking up, two different things.

Someone get this guy a Youtube channel. I can't wait for the episode where he tries to dodge his landlord's eviction notice and the process server for his babymama's child support, but he also needs to figure a way to grab that porch bomb of East Coast turbid IPA shelf whalez that was just delivered....

Go back and read my posts again. I'm not judging his being poor, I'm judging his poor (pun intended) decisions once he's in that situation.

So LA/Nexternal fucked up and your money's on hold for a week or so - if that's causing issues in your life then you shouldn't be playing to start with.

I'm surprised my internet is still working. I sent in a bad check that won't cash now because of the two extra charges from Nexternal...

Thats fine you can judge whatever you want but that still proves my point that people are quick to judge.

Right, but you are pretty much putting the blame on him for a company overcharging him?

This is a fairly meaningless statement though - you're quick to judge that I'm judgy. I'm quick to judge that you have reasonable taste in comedic animated shows from your avatar, etc.

I'm not blaming him for the fuck-ups - there's no question that that's shitty from LA and Nexternal. But, given Lost Abbey and Nexternal's history, and given basic financial acumen, I'm blaming him for being in a situation where that could happen in the first place.

You're trying to make it a meaningless statement, just stop.

He has the money to buy an allocation and it not be a burden, nexternal fucks up and you say he should not be buying beer he can afford because when a company fucks up and overcharges him its his fault for that company taking more than they should have and putting him in the red. How are you not trying to pass the blame onto him?
