Technically not Stone as AB is it's own company now but I hear Stone is also going to start canning some of their beers too. Looks awesome!

How is the Stone/Arrogant Bastard arrangement any different than Pabst using numerous dba's brewery names for their beers (Stroh Brewery Co., G. Heileman Brewing Co., P. Ballantine & Sons, Piels Beer, Stag Brewing, etc.) which are all owned by the same company and are mostly all brewed at the same Miller facilities? Or AB's short-lived "Michelob Brewing Co."? Or MillerCoors "Blue Moon Brewing Co."?

According to their current COLAs, the beers are brewed under the same permit # as Stone, at Stone's address and read the same as the previous COLAs for AB except for that last "Used on label" line:
    * Apparently Stone's actual legal/corporate name - see also the "KOO" abbreviation part of their TTB permit. They've also used it as a "dba" on some beer labels.

The difference is that Arrogant Bastard was born and raised in our house. It's not a leftover brand acquired from somewhere else. We might have our challenges with our wayward son, and the way he chooses to interact with the world, but the bottom line is that he's family!

Ah, so he moved out of his childhood bedroom at home --- into the apartment over the garage but still raids the family kitchen?

(Unlike all those Pabst brands who were once unrelated but later "adopted" (for a price), and now apparently suffer from multiple personality disorder - i.e., the same liquid supposedly being sold under numerous different brand name - Stag, Old Milwaukee, Schmidt's & Carling Black Label are all said to be the same beer.)

Ok I'm not familiar with Stone's beers and I always thought Arrogant Bastard Ale is brewed by Stone. RB says Arrogant Bastard Ale is brewed by Stone... and they have those gargoyle marks on the label! I'm confused...:grimacing:

    Hey,

    For reference: http://bit.ly/GKABA
    And: http://bit.ly/GKABABA

Basically, we (Stone Brewing) brew ALL packaged and distributed Arrogant Bastard Ale, just under the name Arrogant Bastard Brewing Co.

Let us know if you need more clarification!

I am so excited for these to hit my market in MA. 16 oz cans are flying off of the shelves while 22 oz bottles seem to lag behind (market trend, not specific to stone). I think 16 ounce cans are more approachable as a single serving, this will really revitalize an already fantastic beer. Also, I'd like to applaud stone for their dedication to their consumers/fans. I've seen stonegreg respond to multiple threads where stone has been mentioned and that is a refreshing sight since in this industry many higher ups are likened to the wizard in wizard of oz.

Ha ha. Best explanation I've seen! Sorta like Fonzie...if his last name was actually Cunningham (kids, ask your parents).

Oh, damn. Did that happen on that show? Not real familiar with it - I was thinking more of George Burns' "den" over his garage on the Burns And Allen Show* (kids, ask you grandparents). :grimacing:

    * I'm not revealing my age, am I? I swear, I only saw it when I stayed home from grade school sick and watched the morning reruns.
