The family is not meeting until later for Easter so I just cracked a 2012 Bell's Expedition Stout. Wow-an amazing beer with a few years on it. Love it fresh but boy does this age well. I am going to enjoy every small sip.

Fantastic IPA! Glad I decided to revisit this a couple weeks ago, because it is a mainstay for me now for sure. flavors of big juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange zest, and light pine hops; with moderate caramel/toasted bready malt and herbal/floral/grassy hops earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness; super smooth finish with balanced hop stickiness and bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness that lightly increases through the glass. Has all the mosaic and citra hop flavors I love with balanced bready malts. Super drinkable.


Delicious doppelbock as always. Robust flavors of caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, brown bread, and light nutty malts; with light-moderate raisin, plum, fig fruits and herbal/light peppery hop character. Well balanced earthy/spicy bitterness; medium-full bodied with nice bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. A spot on style example as with most Bells beers, I get a 6 pack every year now.


Been a few years since I had this one, excellent DIPA! Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, and pine hops; with some moderate honey/lightly toasted biscuit malt; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Medium sized pine/rind/spicy bitterness; with a sticky/resinous and fairly creamy medium-full body. Moderate dryness that increases through the glass, with zero hop astringency. Lightly warming finish for ABV. Delicious stuff as expected. Would definitely get it again.


Checking out this year's higher ABV batch. Tasting absolutely insane! Definitely better than last year's batch. Flavors of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, caramel, and light nutty maltiness. Bittersweet roast and lightly spicy oak/bourbon on the finish; with a creamy/silky full body with a touch of chalky roasted dryness on the finish. Pretty much perfectly balanced between coffee, malt, and barrel character. This definitely takes me back to memories of having my first KBS. Amazing.

Was going to upload Prince's Raspberry Beret - I've been humming it since I read the "raspberry puree" on the label, but it looks like the purple pimp had them all taken down.

 

Nice mix of styles, fit together seamlessly in this concoction!

And gettin' down to a little "beer town" after seeing them live last night!
