    You must be new here.

You make a very cogent point, but your rational ways have no bearing on the will of the modern beer geek to complain about goddamn EVERYTHING.

Now that I finally pulled the trigger on bottle purchases, are kids allowed? I know they serve food, but not sure on their policy. My guess is that even if they do, it might not be the best spot for family day, but I just need to know if that's even a possibility so my wife can be my DD.

    No kids... It's a bar.

    I love The Hermosillo.

zero tolerance on kids. I bought bottles for one guy during LA beer week cause he couldn't get in with a baby in a stroller.

There's a nice playground a couple of blocks down the street that your family can hang out at while you grab bottles and a pour. They can also hit up Donut Friend on the way.

Yep. OP, you can eat pretty well and drink at Maximiliano down the street (they always carry Craftsman stuff for example). Lovely garden seating area there. And you take turns with the kid at the playground while the other imbibes. The only way I've been able to keep family included.

Thanks for the info all. Wife is pregnant, so she won't be imbibing and is down for being DD as long as decent food is in the mix.

food is pretty bad ass for a bar. Actually it's pretty good for a restaurant period. They had a thai duck confit two weeks ago on special. I ate three orders. #notashamed

wait, the fried pickles have actual pickles in them? I thought it was just a hipster trick to call a bowl of fried jalapenos "pickles".

the chicken sandwich and pork tacos have served me well over the years

i agree that it's good food for a bar or tasting room. but it would be nice to see some more options. if anything, it would help me talk my girlfriend into going more often.

i always thought it was odd they didn't just do a Mexican themed menu - or at least more Mexican items - to go with the theme and all. speaking of, i'm sure most of you know but for those who don't, Condor in Silver Lake is owned by the Hermosillo guys and they have great Mexican food. they often have HPB on tap too

is it too early on to start having Highland Park Brewery entitlement? (i've only been a beer friend for a few months)

Ugh, El Condor is the one black mark on their portfolio of bars/restaurants. El Conquistador forever.

I liked El Conquistador and all, and it sucks they got priced out of the building etc.. but, taco trucks aside, for the area Condor is good Mexican food (in terms of a sit down Mexican restaurant that serves alcohol) and it's a huge plus that they serve good craft beer

You guys talking about El Conquistador that was on Sunset? I remember I discovered them far too late, like one week prior to them closing up :slight_frown:

I'm personally a fan of the darkhorse on the food menu... the coconut curry dish.
