Kinda wierd, but who could know? There's obviously bottles of everything and anything sitting in someone's closet or cellar somewhere.

Not sure if this was meant in jest but I bought 4-5 at two different bottle shops last year.

Vanilla Bean Assassin has got to be very close, I'd guess maybe 5 bottles. Even Mike and Clark said they had one left if I remember correctly.

There is a number of 2nd Shift and 4 Hands releases in STL that have been sub 150 bottle releases that should be pretty scarce as well.

I have a feeling there are very few whales that are truly gone. There are tons of hoarders out there, that would rather die than drink rare bottles. I know a few and their cellars are amazing, and it's absolutely stupid, as there are some old bottles that are well beyond their well beyond their prime... As a whisk(e)y fan, I can understand tucking rare bottles away, but with beer, there's only so long you can keep it before it turns bad. Example is 2011 DL I had 2 bottles of. Had one last August and it was stunning. Fast forward to a week ago, and it started to get a soy saucy flavor to it! But still, some people refuse to drink their rare bottles... Their loss folks.

Then just collect sour beers they keep for 10 years.

Just had that at the Rare Beer Fest in Minneapolis two weeks ago. Deschutes had quite a few bottles of it at their booth.

-Imperial Dominance and Saison Revolution? I still have one of each that I can't pull the trigger on drinking... I wish I had purchased more. I've heard a whispered rumor that Busy Bee still has a few cases of each.

-And speaking OHB, I also wish I had purchased more Bardstown Brand back in '07. It sat around forever because nobody around here (including me) were ready for barrel aged beers. I want to say they were in stock until Event Horizon dropped in '10 and blew everybody's mind.

Really? How did they look? I had a growler of it back in the day, tasted pretty good, a lot of chocolate for sure haha. Hmm, guess I was wrong.

"(Bend, OR) – The two situations are most likely not related at all but Deschutes Breweryis taking a proactive approach in handling this new Black Butte Porter XXII issue.

Deschutes Brewery’s Black Butte XXII was released this past weekend. This year, things are a bit different. Things were a-ok on the keg front but Brewpublic reports that the brewery has disposed of Black Butte XXII bottles due to quality issues:

“[…] this was due to an issue with the cocoa butter in the beer that coagulated in the bottle and had to be disposed of. This also raises the fear of rancidity as well. At this time, it has not been reported as to how much this mishap has cost Oregon’s largest brewery. Kegs of Black Butte XXII, however, will be available, yet limited to the Deschutes pubs in order to regulate the quality and to assure no problems arise.”

That Stone anniversary which massive amounts of noble variety hops. Wish they'd remake it.

Yep, they are drinking great, had em about 4 months ago.
Had some bardstown last year and sadly it has turned for the worse I'm afraid. Could have just been the keg they had at olde hickory at the omega point release. Whats crazy is that I had one out of a bottle in 2013 and it was still really good.

'99 Soleil has to be just about a ghost by now. Yellow Bus hasn't had a check-in for four months but I'm sure there's a small amount left.

Yeah, I'd rather use $1000 on a plane flight to a South Pacific Island (or pick your exotic world destination), but to each their own.

You're invited. I don't know when, but I am looking for someone with any (or all!) Double Oaked Kate for my last KtG vertical. Me and 4 friends did the '09-'12 vert back in December '14 and the '11 was probably my favorite Imperial Stout ever!
