I can't imagine they'll be standing there with a ruler, I'd bet a $20.00 bomber I could get that bag in with no issues.

288 ounces is over 13 bombers...yeah, I'd say that's enough. If you're looking to set up trades, I suppose it could potentially be a problem, but there are ways around that (i.e. meeting outside of the festival).

I believe last year they literally set your backback inside a box that was the right dimensions.

I would normally agree with you. However, I'm thinking the last thing FFF want is to give the appearance of ignoring a state Bill which was just passed to their favor. That would likely not be looked on kindly by folks who may be giving this festival a closer eye than normal. It could be mere speculation on my part but it would not surprise me one bit if bags & incoming beer are checked more thoroughly this year than in prior years.

I was thinking the same thing about that bag. I'm pretty sure they are just looking to keep away hard top coolers and those with wheels. So long as you don't bring in some huge hockey bag sized cooler or have multiple bags, my guess is it will be fine. Of course, I wouldn't want to test it, either.

<Cut to panning shot of mile long line to get into Festival Grounds>
<Stop at our intrepid swashbuckling flannel wearing neckbeard looking anxious>
<Neckbeard Paul walks up to our hero>

Paul: Phillip, it's 45 degrees out here, and you're sweating, what's wrong?
Phillip: Don't worry about it Paul, I got it under control.
<Phillip takes another sip of Black Tuesday from his already sticky tasting glass to calm his nerves>

    <Security Guard waves Phillip forward>
Security Guard: Sir, may I see your backpack please?
<Phillip reluctantly hands over his backpack, continues to stare at the ground>
Security Guard: How big is your backpack sir?
Phillip: 10"x10"x16", in accordance with Bill 1386, which came into law on March 24, 2016.
Security Guard: You sure about that? If you're honest with me it will be a lot easier for you.
<Security Guard gestures to the ominous maximum security style fencing surrounding the festival>
Phillip: Uh, yeah, of course, why would I lie...
<Security Guard quickly reaches for the tape measure on his belt, and carefully measures the backpack while 5,000 neckbeards and 400 girl/wife/females wait to get inside>
Security Guard: Sir, this backpack is 80 cubic inches too large, I'm going to have to ask...

<In the blink of an eye, Phillip grabs the backpack, as another security guard approaches the commotion, and pushes his way in through the gate - alarmed, all sharing the same collective anxiety, the 5,000 neckbeards in line automatically spring into action to protect their own...>

Narrator (Morgan Freeman): Soon, the gates were destroyed, the fences brought down, and the rebellion began in earnest. Many were on the front lines, some were lost, and some persevered to drink more than the legally-allotted storage space out of their backpacks stuffed with adjunct stouts, but to a man (and a very few women) no neckbeard came back unchanged from that fateful day. And the rest, my friends, is history.

"4. Beer may be carried out of the festival grounds, but it must be in sealed, unopened containers. This means no flip top jugs or growlers."

So what if I open a beer in line outside of a the festival grounds?

I brought the backpack I hike with last year. This pack allows me to place everything in it for a week long trip. I think I had 5 bombers plus some extra dry warm clothing in it. I had no issues getting in.

Just finish it before you get in. We emptied a shitload of bombers before it started and just left the bottles on the ground (south entrance). None of us tried carrying in an open bottle. Just finish it before 10AM.

SuperHopzz69: The dickheads at the gate wouldn't let me bring in my soft sided cooler because they said it was too wide! Such bullshit! How was I supposed to know how wide my cooler could be!!

BarrelAgedStud: Stupid fucking security made me throw away my half full bottle of Deth's Tar. What the fuck man!?

BeerHunterz2009: I tried leaving with a growler full of Hill Farmstead I traded some dude all my Dark Lord for and they made me throw it away! What the hell...I didn't think they'd make me throw it away. I'm never going to Dark Lord Day again! FUCK 3 FLOYDS!

Can't bring open bottles in or out, so just finish it before you enter the fest. Or at worst, dump it when you get up to the gate. When this happened to me I just handed the bottle back to people behind me and told them to pass it back to whoever wants it. I think it was a Sucaba, which I did not feel like chugging.

The 10x10x16 backpack thing was a concern last year, but they were very relaxed about it. As long as it could squeeze into a milk crate (it can be taller), they didn't care. They literally used milk crates last year at the entrance (at least when I got in they did).

Now they could definitely be more strict about it this year, but I doubt it will be any different. Just don't bring a crazy huge pack and be baffled as to why they didn't let you in.

As a first timer, I purchased one of those Polar Bear backpack coolers on Amazon at the suggestion of one of the posters here. The dimensions are larger (18x12x7). I have to believe DL security will do as fine a job as the airlines do to enforce the "carry on" luggage. Although it holds a case of beer, I'm not planning on bringing that much. Several bombers, a few 4 packs and water should get me through this, rain or shine. The main reason is to haul the DL bombers back. I'm guessing based on the tickets you receive that there will be plenty to drink once on the festival grounds. I hope I'm not wrong on the pack size. That should be the last thing I worry about when hitting a great festival.

My guess is you'll be fine, too, but if you really don't want to worry about it, they have given you the dimensions to go by. If you're under that, there is truly no need to worry. With the larger pack, you just have to live with the possibility (small as it may seem to us) that you may not be allowed to take in what you have.
