Agreed, didn't care for last year's much, but this one is surprisingly good.

I'm with you, no balance and very boost for what it is.

Glad to hear that this years batch is better. I've been passing on the 4 packs because I wasn't wholly impressed with last year's. I'll have to pick one up next time I see it.

Based on the Hoptimum I had last year it would be immediately obvious. Only time I've taken a beer back to a bar. I was going to completely skip it this year, but it sounds like it might be better, so I guess I'll give it a whirl.

I remember not being impressed by it last year too. I think it's better. Maybe not PtY better, that might be a stretch, but I was pleasantly surprised. Only reason I bought it again was because they put it in 4-packs of 12oz bottles rather than the big 24oz one like last year.

I've seen this sentiment a lot, and I don't really get it, a 4-pack is over twice as much liquid, and probably costs twice as much too. Sure, the cost/ounce is lower, but if you're going to take a risk on something wouldn't you rather it be a bomber than a 4-pack?

I'll be looking for these at a place that will let you buy singles, like Whole Foods. That's a definitely advantage of a 4-pack.

For me it's just about committing to 24oz of 10.4% beer. I'm not always in the mood for that. But I can easily pour two 12oz bottles if I am. (Corrected my previous post, I think it was in those weird big stubby 24oz bottles last year)

I think thats kind of the point though. I think alot of us are impressed that an IPA still has the power to twist up our mouthes after all these years. I for one thought Hopslam would be that way judging by name alone, but it turned out to be an easy drinking, rather refined IPA with nice tropical and grapefruit notes. Thats not a slam where I come from.

I think the advantage of smaller serving size far outweighs the increased buy in cost. I can drink 4 glasses of mediocre beer over the course of a week and not feel nearly as cheated as I do when I'm forcrd to down 22 oz of meh... at half the cost.

Keep kicking ass and taking names. High altitude series is a brilliant move. Keep taking all of my money Sierra, I mean saving me all that money

I just put a cork in the bottle. I've never had a problem with that.

I guess I'm weird, because when I don't enjoy a beer I stop drinking it. I don't really see the point in suffering through the rest of the glass/bottle/4-pack. So I'll take the smallest unit, even if it costs more per ounce.

Had on tap last year and it was not the best DIPA I've ever had... However... I'm enjoying a glass right now and I can tell this much: it's a delicious Pine Forest DIPA with commitment to solid caramel malt flavor. I am digging hoptimum this go round! Cheers!

I'm the guy you see down at the quick cash mart buying a 16oz of Mickys and another of Steel Reserve for a buck each out the door. I then proceed to take them home, pour them into a pint glass, and take that first hard chug with the satisfaction of knowing my cellar is safe(....but for how long?!?!).

Well sum'bitch! I grabbed a four pack tonight on a whim so I'm glad to hear people are digging it. $9.99 for four pack is a great price too!
