Yeah, it's like the Sneeches that go through the star-off machine and then back through the star-on machine. Taking a filtered beer and then putting it through an unfiltering process seems like a lot of work for little pay off.

If they released them side-by-side to compare, sure, that would be neat. Otherwise, I like the distinction in what is produced on each coast. No sense in everyone focusing on unfiltered, turbid beers, likewise, and as much as I love coffee, I wouldn't want every brewery focusing on including coffee adjuncts in most of their beers.

I'm plenty happy with "filtered" west coast IPAs.

I was a homebrewer for 30 years. In 95% of brews they dropped bright in a short while. No filtering , no finings, no nothing. Just proper brewing (self praise is no praise but I did have to drink it and drinking badly brewed beer is no fun)
Unfiltered doesn't mean cloudy. Cloudy means suspect techniques.

Please. Let's further homogenize the beer market.

While some brewers out here are making SunnyDelite beers (complete with translucent plastic bottles!), in general, our brewers prefer to make IPAs for people who like IPAs.

You would be surpised to find that this us untrue. Depending on the method used to "filter".

very untrue, different flavor profiles and different mouthfeel are apparent when the beer is not filtered.

It seems we beat this subject to death. I love my local "hazy", "turbid" (or hell, "opaque") IPAs, but I sure as hell don't want the others to go away! Variety is good. We all have different preferences.

If they do, I'll just stick with my nice, clear Colorado IPAs.

Colorado is the west coast...I think the "west cost" starts around Pittsburgh in the eyes of people in the Northeast (some might say Albany).

Just find West Coast brewers such as Cellarmaker who make that style of beer and be happy with it. It's nice to have a wide variety of ways to pour IPA into your face, I wouldn't want it to all be the same.

No. I know I'm in the minority it seems, but I think the ultra-hazy beers look ok at best and awful at worst. I want my beloved SN Celebration or Lagunitas Sucks or FW Union Jack to continue to look exactly as they do now.

I call bullshit. As yeast flocculates it pulls hop oils with it.

Seems odd considering that the Pacific Ocean is 1000 miles and two mountain ranges away.
