I don't know that this batch of Hubris was any bigger than previous ones, but it's definitely the best one IMO. Pretty sure they brewed it at the grill, not the bigger brewery.

I could be wrong as I didn't hear it directly from an LBC rep but I heard from a couple of guys that I that I hold in very high regard with respect to what is going on in the local and national beer scene and they said the latest batch was done at their Capital Blvd facility. In fact it caught me a bit by surprise as my response was... not much of a learning curve required here.

Gotcha. It may be that they did. I know that the one about a month or 6 weeks ago was brewed at the other spot. It would make sense this brand new one was at the new brewery though, since it seems different.

However they did the most recent batch, they need to keep doing it that way.

At the risk of this thread going in circles - I had a bottle of WW Freak tonight for the first time in a few months, early March bottling date. Far superior to the Pernicious bottles I've had recently (similar freshness), as well as DDS on draft at Maywood. Makes me wonder how much of our preferences are due to quality vs. the last time we tried a particular beer. We are truly benefitting from a golden (IP)age.

That being said, sounds like Charlotte's beer scene is turning out some killer local brews. I'm still waiting for that Eastern NC IPA that sets the state on fire...

Everything is better than DDS right now IMO. Not anything mental about having it before and later, they're just having issues with it I think.

No doubt personal preferences are and always will be a part of any human decision / opinion. Also, exactly replicating the profile of a given beer from batch to batch is virtually an impossible task for any brewery to accomplish, even when guided by the most extreme of QC processes. Certainly a brewery of a scale and vast resources of let's say Stone stands a far better chance of having negligible variations between batches, smaller scale breweries just don't have that luxury in terms of scale and resources. Now, missing the mark altogether on a batch is another matter entirely and is certainly deserving of some level of scrutiny. Anyway I'm with you @PaleCale, if you are a craft beer nut... these are good times indeed.

Got a bottle of Hubris yesterday from a trading buddy that was up on DC metro for work, gonna crack it tomorrow, can't wait!

Hope my buddy in Charlotte didn't drink the crowler of Heist Citraquenchal he said he got for me!

Heist should have a Mosaic in the same vein as the Citraquenchal on next week per my buddy.

That would be awesome - I just missed Citraquenchal (my wife was in town a day late for it but still got a really enjoyable English Dark Mild). I will have to keep checking and ask her to stop next week if it is on.

And just after I typed that about the crowler, my buddy just sent me a text with tracking!

Also got a Cataclysm II from him a month or so ago, haven't opened that yet...I've heard really good things about that beer too.

Definitely will do! Btw, Teacher's Pet has been incredible lately in contrast! Hence why it looks like y'all are having trouble keeping it on because it's getting guzzled!

Opened the crowler of Citraquintial from Heist last nite, good lord it was good, up there with Treehouse and Trillium stuff I've had, Julius, Lights On, Curiosity 23, Archaic, Congress St. The best IPA I've had from the state of NC, blows Pernicious away.

Also had Hubris on Friday, that is the best DIPA that I've had from NC as well.

Some really good stuff coming out of NC!

I'm hearing from my buddy in Charlotte that a single hop Mosaic IPA is due from Heist this week, hope to try that one 1 too!

Lynnwood cans coming very soon it sounds like! 12 oz Mosaic Pale and 16 oz Hop on Top from what I hear.

Hubris is dunzo over here at the brewery, I assume it's the same at the restaurant.

I tried a Wooden Robot What He's Having on Friday. I'll add that one to the list.

Hop on Top is canned per a friend that posted a pic of full cans that they are filling, to a private NC beer page. That's another solid IPA too, have had several bottles over the years, I love my friends in NC that take care of me!

Heist put on the mosaic NE IPA, Blurred is the Word and it is just as awesome as the Citra-quench-al. As Im sitting here enjoying this NE IPA and looking at the menu, I dare to say that the Heist Brewpub experience is beginning to rival the Wicked Weed Brewpub experience.

Sitting here in Durham, I'm more than a little bit jealous of the Heist/WR IPAs y'all are seeing. I will say, I picked up some Deep River Carpetbagger IIPA today and it's about as good as it gets on this side of the state - recommend picking some up if you see it.
