Yeah, I figured it wasn't sitting around much nowadays. I guess that's what I meant with what the definition of a shitshow is. Here, we have to be in line right when it goes on sale (or earlier, depending on what we're talking about). So, where between lining up/being at the store immediately and being able to get it a couple hours later in the day does it turn from being orderly to shitshow? That's a rhetorical question, but as I mentioned - our current state of affairs here doesn't bother me (much...yet ).

Funny you mentioned bourbon, too...it seems like everywhere has something that people go crazy for. Although, I think it's crazy for bourbon here as well (I don't drink it, so I'm not up on how it really is). I think that's the thing about Chicago, you seem to have to put in work for just about anything limited.

I'm hoping to taste some 2013-2016 next week, so I'm intrigued to see if I can identify that sweet spot for me. I'm not a big coffee guy, so I don't mind the coffee fading away some, and have yet to taste the green pepper attribute that I hear of with aged coffee beers. Maybe that will change next week.

I haven't pick that (green pepper) up. What I found happens is the coffee, chocolate, and bourbon notes die off (in that order).

I still think you're giving the stores too much credit. I don't think they're concerned about pissed off customers as much as the fact that breaking up a four pack mean more customers through the doors, and in turn more other non-KBS products sold.

People actually get pissed off they can't get a beer? Those people need to get a life. Also, I'd rather take a chance on being in the right place at the right time and scoring a four pack than getting one individual 12 oz bottle, which nien times out of ten isn't worth the trouble you go through.

Its better with a year + than it is fresh. At least for my tastes. Turns into a delicious chochlate coffee brownie bomb.

With the exception of LP, anyone have any idea on how Many cases binnys locations are expecting? I've called a few locations and all have told me they are going to go with the minimum limit of 2.

I think you're too much of a cynic, and maybe you're shopping at the wrong stores. I certainly know the guy who runs the bottle shop where I normally shop is absolutely concerned with trying to get the beer into a bunch of people's hands.

It also looks like you've changed your theory. Before it was breaking it up to sell the beers for more. Now it's breaking it up in the hope that more people will buy other stuff. I really don't think any of this is true. For a lot of stores, it's probably more of a hassle than anything else to deal with the 15,000 KBS phone calls they get, all just to move a couple of cases of it. These stores make a hell of a lot more selling Daisy Cutter or All Day IPA (or Bud Light) than dealing with the special releases.

You're spot-on that people need to get a life re: FOMO beer anger, that is for sure. And I'm like you, too, where I'd probably prefer things be broken up less and I'd luck into a couple more bottles. I just think the reasons it's split up are not generally nefarious.

I just wanted to thank you for using the word nefarious, haven't heard it in a while.

Did LP state their limit or are you assuming it'll follow the bcbs allocation and be considerably higher than the other locations?

No one lined up yet at Binny's Grand, LOL. I asked the other day and was told they are not releasing how much they are getting and that it is up to each individual store to decide how much to sell, but that they would probably limit it to 2 bottles per person.

At suburban Chicago area Binny's last year many people showed up at 9am when the stores opened and were still able to get two bottles with no problems. After getting through the line, many people dropped off their two bottles in their car and got in line again. KBS is good, and it's limited, but not worth getting totally nuts about it. (maybe just a little nuts)

This was my experience is well, but in the city Binny's. One location I made it to an hour after opening, and got my 2 bottles and they had at least a few cases on the floor and people weren't rushing in for it. My guess is it lasted a couple hours at least. Of course, Binny's didn't advertise an event for it last year like they did this year (at least not to my knowledge).

Plainfield is about 15-20. Plainfield and Schaumburg are among the only suburban locations I know that have set the limit at a 4-pack
