Flying in to Atlanta for work Thursday and Friday and was going to head up to CC tomorrow at 5 when tasting room opens. Wanted to confirm that I can purchase carry out cans there? Looks like it based on the website but wanted to be sure before making the trip. Thanks in advance for the help.
Unless it's changed from when I was there in early November you can't buy any beer at CC and good luck finding any Tropicalia in Athens on a Thursday....delivery date for the stores in Athens seems to be Friday afternoon and by the end of the next week(Thursday) all the local stores were sold out when I was looking
Was there 2 weeks ago. You can't buy cans at the taproom. Go to 5 Points bottle shop. They had plenty of Athena and Tropicalia.
Echoing BKnarr....I was in Athens 2 weeks ago. No to-go sales/souvenir tours at the brewery. However, plenty of Tropicalia and Athena at: Kroger (Alps Rd) 5 Points Bottle Shop (both locations, 5 points and ATL Hwy) J's Bottle Shop (Prince Ave) Sam's Food Mart/Package (right next to J's, literally) Perry's Liquor (North Ave) Perry's Liquor (Lexington Ave) Perry's Liquor (Cedar Shoals Dr) ABC Package (W Broad)
There is a grocery store/health food store right next to the 5 Points Bottle Shop on Lumpkin that always has tons of Trop. I generally get my 1 case limit at 5 Points and the walk over to the grocery store and get another case or two. Cheers.
I was there last weekend (3/26) and they did have to-go tour options. I'm assuming there is nothing wrong with posting the details here? $14 for Souvenir Glass / 36 oz Souvenir Tastings $25 for Souvenir Glass / 36 oz Souvenir Tastings / One Souvenir To-Go Option For to-go you could choose from a 6-pack of Tropicalia, a 6-pack of Athena, or a 4-pack of Athena Paradiso. I didn't go into the trip expecting it, but it was a nice surprise. I went with the Paradiso as I had already picked up Tropicalia at 5 Points before heading to the brewery. The souvenir glass is a choice between the Nonic Pint and Willie Belcher.
Sorry to change question from original topic, but anyone know if Cosmik Debris still available at Athens stores?
GA can't get their heads out of their assess on their beer laws. You can't buy crap at the brewery - you can't even drink at CC unless you pay for the sampler and tour. An agent bought in to the experience recently, and didn't get the "tour" so they cracked down on the brewery - threatening to take their license at one point. I believe it's still being discussed. You got good advice - I've not once been to 5 Points and not found Tropicalia.
It was not an agent, it was a local law enforcement official from Athens-Clarke County; their license was never threatened to be taken; the local law enforcement agency is not pursuing any punishment. The link reporting that no action was to be taken is broken, but this was announced 8 days ago. But your first point: "GA can't get their heads out of their assess on their beer laws" is definitely true.
The title of the article... Creature Comforts could face possible fine, suspension of license http://onlineathens.com/mobile/2016...s-could-face-possible-fine-suspension-license Also - "agent" and law enforcement offical... come on. You're nitpicking...
I love Athens, btw. We hit it up yearly. The Holiday Inn is crazy new and nice - and you can walk to a shload of bars and great food joints. That being said, didn't even darken the doorway of CC the last two trips to Athens. I could buy single glasses of everything they had at the brewery at the bars surrounding it. I hope they smarten up with their laws... Athens is an Asheville type town just waiting to explode. Cheers!
Stopped srlier today at both 5 Points shops as well as J's. Found plenty Tropicalia as well as even a 4-pack of Cosmik. Thanks to you all!!!
I take it nobody else has been in the last week or so? I'm wondering if they will only offer to-go souvenirs on certain days, I was there on Saturday but there was no special release event going on.
