The Half-Acre thread (2018)

It's an interesting choice. Daisy Cutter dropped off my list after the change, if there was one. I feel like it used to be the best pale on the market, but now it's more like an imitation of other pales. Really odd to me.

 

Has anyone tried dentside? Pale ale with blood orange. Fantastic aroma and bone dry. Also very hazy for those of you into that look

 

if it's anywhere close to being as tasty as Crimson snapper....

While we are talking about Half Acre, I'd like to give them a shout out for their great customer service.

I was in town two weeks ago visiting a friend, went to the South Loop Binny's struck it up with an awesome employee there. He retrieved a DDC from the back for me, which I was shocked to see after looking around here and seeing the hype.

When we got back to my friends house, we were unpacking our boxes of beer. I set the DDC down on the counter and BLAM! it exploded. I was distraught. I was able to salvage about 6 oz out of the spillage to try, and it was amazing.

I contacted Half Acre as I though there might have been a quality issue with their bottles, as I've never seen a bottle explode from being set down on a counter.

I got a response a few days later, apparently granite and bottles sometimes do this, they've seen it in their taproom and it's just a weird phenomenon. They have offered to replace my DDC, which they didn't have to do. I thank them for that. They've earned a lot of respect in my book.

Also, Gone Away is pretty damn good.

Grabbed a growler of Powder Blue tonight. Had a nip of it earlier and really enjoy the subtle blueberry on the backend. The flavor isn't too in your face or artificial in the way I feel a lot of blueberry things are. Really enjoyed it and look forward to tearing in to that growler.

 

Love how they rotate these 2. Can never get sick of one of them!!

 

Binny's Schaumburg has Vallejo but cannot sell it until tomorrow.

 

Got Vallejo last night at Binnys South Loop. Tis the season.

 

Love me some fresh Vallejo. Does anyone know if they have it at the shop in cans? I might swing bye tonight if they do.

 

Tomorrow is the official release date everywhere. SL Binny's jumped the gun it seems.
