KBS set to release April 1st

Already for sale here in Northern California...

 

I hope I'll be able to find some in South Florida

 

Local bevmo put this out early this week in nor cal. Walked in and saw 6 cases for $25 a 4 pack. No limit. Hopefully some jerk doesn't buy hem all.

 

Nothing in Bergen county nj where I live until next week. All depends/relies on distribution.

 

that is illegal, it's called pay to play. I know a store that got in trouble for it.

 

I was hunting a bottle or two last year and luckily found two stores that still had some for sale three hours after it dropped, haha. One store was charging $15 a bottle and the other made you purchase another Founders beer to buy one bottle of KBS for $10...such a shame. I walked out of both stores with nothing and grabbed a sixer of Anti-hero instead.

Happy hunting to those trying to grab some though, such a great beer!

 

That's just bad karma too.. Hate that.
What goes around comes around when it comes to these once a year releases.

 

This release brings the best and worst out of stores and people so far been lucky in years past let's see if this year is the same

 

Tapped it today to a full house. Its pretty flippin good.

My TW has had them for 2 weeks sitting get in the back. I'll be there as soon as they open. But, again, I don't know why I still hunt it. It's been lackluster for a couple of years (to me). I guess it's one of the first limited releases I hunted and still enjoy it. Here's to a better year!

 

For those in Maine and New York Hannaford supermarket will have KBS on their "Beer today, Gone tomorrow" rack in select stores!! Some stores will be receiving tomorrow! Happy Hunting! Can't wait!

 

Does anyone have experience with how KBS ages? I read somewhere that it tends to fall off after about a year - just curious if anyone has direct experience with this.

 

I believe the general consensus is that it gets smoother and the heat fades, however the coffee fades fast. That's what I remember reading. I still have some in the cellar, so I can't speak from experience. From what I was told, most didn't recommend ageing. Again, that was what I remember reading a while back.

 

The coffee definitely fades. It gives the beer a different complexion but overall still good. Not the same as the 3-5 month mark (especially if it's still a little hot on April 1st)

 

Picked some up today. Can't wait to try this stuff.

 

And this is the reason they still have KBS for sale in MI. It's completely ridiculous and a shame - let's just hope nobody caves and ends up buying this. If there is one good reason for KBS to go unsold and not drank, it would be to teach these selfish fools that it's not gonna work........

 

Some people say it gets worse, some people say it gets even better. My advice is to try it fresh and save one to age.

 

Anything near the San Jose area? I have a feeling we may not be getting it here since from what I've heard the local distributor had some sort of conflict with Founders, which is why this week is the first time we're getting Founders (only seeing "regular" stuff, no KBS), while a little further north, and even just south in Santa Cruz, they've been getting it for about a year.
