KBS set to release April 1st

I landed a four pack for the first time ever. Last year I had to go three different places in three different towns and drive an hour and a half total to get four bottles, one or two at a time. Either the guys at my regular store really like me this year or we got more around here.

 

It seems like it's more plentiful this year?

 

I got a 4 pack at the Bevmo in Santa Barbara. They didn't get their shipment in until around 2pm and sold out immediately. They said they were expecting 4-5 cases and only got 2.

Vintage anything always seems $1-2 dollars more at least. In this case, tw was $20, a dollar cheaper than the local place that got both 2015 and 16, at $21. TW usually always cheaper. Just felt deceived. They hide it like gold. As a high level TW member, it seems like better understanding in what's actually being sold should be used.

They've sold ten fish as new stock before when it was 8 months old. Maybe distributor is to blame.

 

I've stopped in a couple of bottle shops I frequent to see whether they expect to receive any KBS and when it might come in. I've never seen 4-packs sold here in NJ but many stores save bottles for their good customers. I can usually find a few each year without unreasonable exertion.

 

Oktoberfiesta, I was in ABQ visiting my brother over thanksgiving and you are lucky to have a great shop like Jubilation, I would gladly pay $1 more to purchase there. TW is a bonus. My bro got a 4 pack of 2016 KBS at Jubilation after work around 6, and there was more left. It sold out by noon here in my area in PA...can't even get a bottle on your lunch break!

 

One place? I lived in SE NC for 5 years and know more than one place got KBS.

 

I just bought 2 - 4 packs for $20.29 each in Buffalo New York at 11:00 this morning. I consider myself very fortunate. It is the first time I have ever seen it. My son is coming over on Sunday for his birthday. I will cook steaks on the grill and we will do a Bourbon County vs. KBS tasting while I am grilling. Can't wait!!

 

Just had my first 2016 release of the year. Exceptional flavor this year. Better than last year.

 

I thought the same thing too but someone said they didn't actually make more. I was told by the bartender at Founders that they made more though. I think they consolidated KBS this year to the bigger stores around their distribution footprint. I still think they made more because they expanded last year into California and other western states.

 

Let me know what you think! I am going to do one too this year so curious what others think too.

 

I assembled three four packs in three stops, in Madison WI today. I feel very lucky - especially with some of the price gouging I heard of online here - basically $20 a four pack or $5 per bottle.

I did KBS vs. BCBCS last year. This is in no way saying KBS is bad (I love it), but BCBCS was clearly better IMO. Obviously, all palates are different, so others may come to a different conclusion.

 

Sioux Falls, SD - certainly one of the lowest of the distribution priorities - gets KBS starting Monday with larger stores getting "a few cases". I have one bottle reserved at one store, and prepaid $20 for a 4-pack at another, but had to buy two 4-packs of FBS for $10 ea. Normally would balk at such a deal but I regularly buy FBS anyway and the prices are decent. I expect smaller stores might get a partial case if they're lucky, same way BCBS went.

 

any sightings in MA yet?

 

Scored a KBS 4 pack for $21.99 at a bottle shop close to my residence this afternoon (they were holding it for me) and I consider myself lucky.. Across the Omaha area today, bottle shops were selling 4 packs for between $24.99 and $27.99. The stuff, as expected, was flying off the shelves.. Typically within 20-40 minutes sold out..

It's unreal the hoops you have to jump through to get your hands on KBS. And again, I consider myself lucky; as I worked a full 8 hour day, got off at 2:15 in the afternoon, and commandeered my 4 pack..

You should also try getting Firestone Walker's Parabola. A Parabola vs Boubon County vs KBS would be awesome. lol
