I got a 4-pack for $24 in Elmwood Park, IL (near west suburb of Chicago). I got there about 45 minutes after they opened and they were down to their final case after starting with 10. They had a 1 x 4-pack/customer limit and were keeping it in their stockroom.

Yeah I got that wrong. Only one place was listed on Founders website for today. Sams Quik shop is going to get it on Tuesday, thankfully!

That is rather expensive, but hey, atleast it wasn't 10 bucks a bottle like some were saying. Its a fantastic year so hopefully it is worth it to you!

I feel kinda bad for those that pay so much for a bottle of this beer. It hit WI today and I bought a 1/2 case for $66.

It was pretty easy to find this year in Madison.

Just me, or does this year seem to have way more coffee flavor then last year? Good stuff IMO!

^ personally having both, I'll say I prefer KBS. All in opinion but I think it is rather fantastic.

Lucky to get both a 2015 and 2016 together this year

Instantly did a blind side by side.

Quick instant impressions. What ended up being the 2015. I felt a much richer deep sweetness and lack of any sort of booze/heat. Contrary to that. For what ended up being the 2016, I called it more of a thinness (but it may have been the IBUs just creating a sharp contrast in flavors), and more of a boozy heat/ burn. I also saw more coffee notes.

Initially I wanted to call the 2015 a more refined beer with its better sweetness and overall mouthfeel. But after nearly having one of each 12 oz. bottle, I do see the benefits of both.

The question I like to ask. If I were to age a current KBS on my own term and time, would it be worth it? To be honest, I really don't think so.

    Amazing stuff though.

Sweet non boozy, a bit heavy vs. what felt like a thin boozy coffee forward. For a beer some 1% more than the other to feel so thin is quite the acclaim imho. So take your pick. Today I preferred the sweeter heftier 2015. Maybe on a solo day, I prefer what 2016 offers.

@magilldm I definitely agree about the local bottle shop options. I heard the vintage 2015 sold out way before the 2016, so go figure. Flavor is truly what you make of it, or what you desire out of a big stout. I wouldn't say no to either.. I heard TW was turning people away saying they didn't have it AT ALL (until next week) when in fact, if you read my first post, it was available via a never received email TW discovery barcoded invoice email. So go figure. It sounds sketchy. I'm not a rich lad, so I sort of have to stick to both Jubilation and TW if I want to experience the whole spectrum of new beers. Sad reality, but I do go all out at Jubulation about as frequently as TW. Necessary evil I guess.

I've noticed that Founder's latest barrel aged beers, like Backwoods Bastard and KBS, have a higher ABV this year. KBS went from 11.2% to 12.4% and Backwoods went from 10.2% to 11.6%. I personally like both of these beers at the higher ABV.

Did a 2015 kbs vs 2016 kbs enjoyed the 2015 more. Did 2016 SMS don't see a huge difference between SMS 2016 and 2016 kbs though the KBS is still pretty young and hot

Had an SMS a couple days ago (which obviously had a few weeks to mellow out) and my thoughts are that yes, this feels slightly boozier today, but I think the non-bourbon flavors have a lot more going on. Chocolate and coffee are much richer... Both are awesome.

I stopped at my local Bevmo after I got off work around 9pm tonight just for kicks fully expecting KBS to be sold out but as soon as I walked in, it was on a floor stack along with cases of Bourbon County Stout.
Bevmo Fairway, Roseville for those wondering.

Picked up a 4 pack in Santa Cruz today for $25. No line, 4 packs just sitting on the counter, nobody really going after them at the bottle shop/bar. I don't think most people in the area have heard of KBS to be honest.
