Is it disheartening to anyone else to see these bottles already up for trade? People bring their mules and right away trade them for something else. I'm trying not to judge here but it is pretty hard not to when so many other NJ people would love to try just a bottle. Note: didn't go, wasn't planning on going either so this has nothing to do with missing out.

Had a nice conversation with Michael Kane and he said there were approximately 800-900 bottles total

I love these types of releases. I live down the street from Other Half and still have a better chance of getting Kane releases unless I wanna stand in line 4 hours at OH.

I'll agree with that. Before Kane hit the trade scene it was a million times easier. There's probably no going back.

Agree with both of you. I'm all for trading but I agree the whole buying for the purpose of trading is what leads to all these shit show/ bad feelings around releases.

Unfortunately, I was "working" and doing Carton, Belford, and Surf BBQ before trying to head there. Heard it was out, oh well.

Surf BBQ, the new place in Rumson? If so, how was it? I was planning to check that out.

They'll probably never do another release like ANTEAD as these seem to be going smoother. They'll probably stick to announcements moments before opening from now on so I may never see any bottles from them again since I work til 2.(aside from the Vengeful Heart or Fall Saints bottles that last a few weeks) which is cool with me.

Still will drink the hell out of them every time I see the wooden handle at whatever bar I'm at. That's beer in 2016 and I won't complain.

It was really good to be honest. Was able to get there early enough to get some really good pictures and talk to some of the staff. Their craft beer selections are average. You can get some good offerings to go along with your BBQ. The jalapeno hush puppies along with the "irish nachos" are top notch. Had the brisket and the spare ribs which with the spicy BBQ sauce are great.

Problem is that it's counter service so you better get there early or you'll be in line for a while.

Not only that but their hours are "12 PM - When we run out of food"... so you could be in line for brisket and when you get to the counter to order, you are SOL because they just ran out.

If you get there early enough to order, phenomenal though. I'll be putting up a complete review on my site this week, but figured I'd at least give a heads up now.

Got down there today and got two bottles. Also got an extra Vengeful Heart so i can age one and drink one fresh.
So i popped that vengeful heart just now and its damn good. pretty unique, not sure how this has stuck around so far. I bet if they put it in barrels, it would fly off the shelves. O well, more for me!

Haven't gone there yet but strictly food wise Local Smoke is opening soon in Red Bank so Surf BBQ is kind of doomed.

I saw that too, although that may not necessarily be the outcome.

Thank you! Now I have to look back and see who you are then! Also, not sober after today. So, pardon me if I PM you tomorrow about this.

I think it'll be fine, regardless. Victor Rallo seems to know how to do restaurants. I live in Red Bank, so an extra place to walk to is all good to me. But honestly, Surf BBQ has the meat and the beers to have me coming back again.

But honestly, I hate the name "Surf BBQ". It's not on the beach, it reminds me of Surf Taco, and it's in Rumson.

Still, a great experience. I hope my pictures come out as good as I think they did at least.

I thought it was fantastic. Miles ahead of ANTEAD (was not a fan at all). Not hot, mild bourbon and vanilla taste and the coffee is bursting.
