I hate bomber size bottles(and 750ml (25oz) bottles). They are expensive, and I dont want to drink that much shitload of beer by myself. Carrying them back to my home is hard and etc.... Seriously, I dont see a merit for a bomber except its good for bottle sharing(just buying 2 bottles will solve the problem though..).

Recently Cascade and Eclipse were imported and they are so god damn expensive. And even after I buy them, drinking them is another problem. So I just stopped buying bombers.. except they are very cheep. What about you guys BAs?

I don't hate them at all. For the most part, except for the biggest of big beers, say 12-14% or higher, I don't have trouble finishing them in one evening. Those massive ones I have closed with a wine stopper and put back in the fridge for the next day. Generally they're fine except maybe a bit less carb. I guess I don't really get the absolute, blind hatred towards the format.

Lagunitas prices their bombers really nice. Beyond that, once it gets up around $8.99 a bomber it better be something special & WAY better than average for me to purchase. I generally avoid bombers due to pricing & if I'm going to be able to consume the contents myself in one sitting. I find these to be the brewers I buy from in this format Lagunitas, FFF, Stone & Rogue (none of their gimmicky PR stunt beers; save for Beard).

Depends on how much I love the beer and if it's one my wife will like enough to share with me. My biggest concern is a bomber going flat if I do not finish it off in one go, but I found a stopper (from a recommendation here on BA) on Amazon that preserves bombers fairly nicely. I went through a period where I swore off bombers as wells, but these days they seem to be the majority of what I buy

Beer in Champagne bottles? Sure, it deserves that dignity. For my use it's a cumbersome, ungainly package but I have no objection to the container.

High abv bombers are becoming a pet peeve for me. I opened a bottle of Java Cask last night and it was delicious but at 14% abv I am absolutely forced to share it or split it between two days.

With lower alcohol beers I can easily drink a bomber but it's definitely still a price premium. Seems like breweries use bombers for more adventurous beers and I'm ok with that when the alcohol is reasonable. I would like to see more beers following Avery/Weyerbacher/Founders/Bells though and use 12oz bottles for high gravity stuff, even if it is sold by single bottles.

Could you please link to it? I've tried some makeshift ways to keep a bomber overnight when needed but this sounds better.

Brooklyn brewer Garrett Oliver claims that:
...but believe that or not, the general majority opinion is that "bomber" refers strictly to the 22 ounce (sometimes including SN's 24 oz) long-neck beer bottle, not to the 750 ml. "champagne"-shaped bottles which are often corked & caged, but sometimes sealed with a crown cap.

I steer clear of most because they frequently seem overpriced. But Stone and SN and a few others have some affordable big bottles and I buy those pretty regularly.

If a beer I want to try or I like come in bombers, I buy and drink bombers. The end.
People complain about price so much on this site. Craft beer is still a hobby right?? Shit it's cheap compared to my other vice.

For several reasons I generally avoid the large format bottles, whether they are bombers (22 oz bottles), or larger (eg., 750 ml or 25oz). If a beer comes only in a large format I'll typically pass it by or ignore it unless I know I'm buying for a special situation where the beer will be shared. Then it becomes more convenient with the larger bottle to pour multiple portions. Am I missing a few beers I'd like to try? Sure, but its no big loss given the variety of beers that come in smaller bottles and that I've not had a chance to try or to enjoy enough to add to my regular rotation.

Quite so, I believe the original was used for both beer and champagne and held more than 750ml, some degree of downsizing happening to both with beer being the most egregious. I've even noticed some taller than bomber 500 ml bottles on store shelves.

Nope, I do understand cost per ounce and I still don't hate them. Try again.
Believe me, I understand that for most beers, pricing for 6-packs comes to less than bombers.

I'm not a fan of bombers, especially high alcohol bombers, the price point is only one issue. I don't like having to commit to 22 oz of a beer over 10%. Some beers are only available in bombers and if I want it I'll still buy it.

Surprising to see how many people can't or don't want to finish one single bomber

I feel the same way when I see how many feel compelled to finish one in a single sitting. :-)

I know it's crazy but around my area I see people finish 2 beers almost on a daily basis...just bonkers!
