KBS in Chicagoland (2016)

I'm going to swing into here after work today and try, I suppose. Between Friday and yesterday I've made about 15 stops and scored absolutely zero. Got to the Lakeview Binny's not long after they sold out Friday morning, saw them hanging up the "KBS is sold out" sign at the State/Grand Jewel a little while later, and according to the lady at the Broadway Jewel Saturday morning I "just missed 5 cases". I'd be happy to quit if I could just get ONE 4 pack, but I've tried too hard to strike out now! Haha

 

Looks like you've got some bad luck. I would focus more on which WF haven't gotten it in at this point...I doubt Grand will have any left, but it certainly can't hurt to check. I would call first if I were you, then I would call the others nearby you to see their status. Whenever I want to know if a store has something in or is expecting it, I don't come here and ask, I go directly to the store. I know they probably get lots of similar calls, but I find that if you ask in a very friendly manner, they will not mind.

My guess is that these WF are going to be getting their shipments in during the mid to late morning hours, so you'll probably need to find a way to sneak out of work during that time and grab some.

 

Yeah, definitely have not had the best of luck. And agreed, I doubt the Grand one will have any left, but since I've struck out so much, might as well make sure. I definitely appreciate the advice! I can sneak out of work between 12-2 tomorrow and/or Friday, so I'll try to call some WF tonight that I can make a quick trip to from the loop and see if any are getting it either of those days.

I keep stopping into my local corner spot once a day to ask. I think the guy's getting annoyed with me, but I spend a ton of money there and all he keeps saying is "I think some time this week", so if that's all he can tell me, I'll keep stopping by to ask!

Anyways, thanks again. I'm not mad or anything, just losing motivation to keep hunting with all these strike-outs!

My post from r/chicagobeer last Friday: South Loop Binnys was quite low key. Tapping event started at 3:00 p.m. but we arrived early and got our 2 bottle limit each around 2:00 p.m. Then at 3pm they started selling bottles of 2014 & 2015: one bottle for every two 2016s you bought, so I got a 2014 & 2 more. By. 3:45 there were about 35-40 folks (including one guy with a baby stroller) milling around drinking KBS. BTW, they also had World Wide Stout on draft

 

You could always go to Cardinal Liquors in Joliet and spend $36 for a 4 pack or $40 for a bottle of Madame Rose.

 

Know it's late to post this, but haven't had a chance to since. Grabbed a 4 pack at wf at grand/Colombus around 4pm. They were keeping it in the back though so you have to ask.

 

Thanks to @Beanblossom for the heads up about WF on Grand. Stopped by on my way home from work, around 4:40, to hear them telling a guy he got the last four pack, but I asked anyways, they said the might have one more, and indeed they did.

Yeah, had a buddy say he got a 4 pack after work today in Old Town that was $39 and change out the door. Yikes.

 

Sounds like they got some real straight shooters running the beer section.

 

Or the guy saw the tears in his eyes that he missed out on KBS and ended up giving him the 4-pack he saved for himself.

 

There were probably about 8 four packs on the shelf at WF in Edgewater yesterday.

Good work! Glad I could be of assistance. I struck out at Binny's on this stuff, but received a tip yesterday. For whatever reason, it feels even better when you are the one to get the last of that special beer at a place.

 

Anyone know when Gold Coast WF getting theirs?

Update: WF Naperville sold it yesterday, gonna say that probably all WF sold it yesterday.

 

WF Hinsdale had 4 packs as of 12:20pm. Limit 2 4pk pp. $22.99

 

Whole Foods on Ashland sold out as of 1pm

 

About a case and a half left sitting behind the cheese counter at the Whole Foods on Huron as of around 11:30 this morning. Limit one 4 pack.
