It's been a long time since I've had it and obviously this is a different, much larger batch. But it's been very good and well-balanced every time in the past. For me the big question will be is it thick enough to compare to something like BCBS. But I definitely expect it to taste good, like all their stouts have IMO.

Sounds like shops here in the Triangle will be selling bottles today. Happy Friday!

I would be shocked if it were even in the same zip code as those beers you have listed above. Then again, I haven't tried Dark Age to date but it is one WW special / limited release offerings I will give a go, despite my general propensity to not get caught up in their special release / hype web.

Its not really the same as any of those beers. Its not nearly as thick, and obviously doesn't have adjuncts. I think the closest beer to it that's local would be a less sweet, slightly thinner version of Event Horizon. But that's comparing EH to the draft version of Dark Age.

Hmmmmm? Appreciate the insight. Maybe I'll avoid it after all as I prefer stouts that have a bit of substance and sweetness to them as opposed to stouts that are more porter-esque.

To me it will all be based on cost. If it's say around $6.99 a bottle, I'll pick it up. If not, well I will just drink these instead:

But they distill Pappy, right? I've never had BT though.

Around $10 here in the Triangle which is a little pricey for a 12 oz bottle

At Tasty now, 9.99. They said Buffalo Trace and Four Roses barrels.

Did anybody grab some at the brewpub? Curious if it's also $10.

Bought one today. Finishing it up as a type this, and I'd say @c64person's description is on point. It's good, but glad I only bought one. I'd take BBA The Miller's Toll over this all day.

There has been major batch inconsistencies in the past. I had it 18 months ago at the Funk on draft and thought it was amazing. Second time was a growler six months later, didn't even think it was the same beer. Third time was decent, but again not nearly as thick as BCBS or others.

Buffalo Trace aside, the body and mouthfeel reminded me of BA Sexual Chocolate.

In Greensboro tomorrow , there's plenty to go around I'm told so it will be there all day plus I'd guess. He said he had a ton, so I'm guessing 20 cases or so. I'll buy a few, sends some out if I like it.

I stand corrected. Available at Appalachian Vintner for $10.50. I'm pleasantly surprised.

For a 12 oz bottle... Ouch! I split a pour of Dark Age with the wife at Sam's yesterday as I wanted to try it. It is very good but compared to the $20 for the 4-pack of KBS I walked away with?? Heck regular BCBS at $10 was pricey but at least you got another 4 ounces.

Yeah KBS did kind of seem like a steal next to this.
