Well, I love Seattle in the summer. If I find myself back up there, I'll search a little harder. Gotta wash down that AWESOME seafood with something.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the state of WA grows some of the best hops in the world. Which suggests that all WA needs is a couple great brewers to put them on "the map." Hmm... (=wheels turning...)

Well, you won't have to search too hard. We have over 150 breweries and you find good craft beer even in the diviest of dives. As far as "great" brewers go, we've only got Fremont, Black Raven, Boundary Bay, American, Naked City, Big Time, Diamond Knot................

Never heard of any of them. Which MIGHT mean they rock, lol. I'll refrain from talking s about WA beer until I know a little more about it... (I DO love the state)

As someone who recently moved from the Midwest to San Diego, I sympathize. I also go to Alpine biweekly for growler fills! :grinning:

I own 2 Alpine growlers. But, unfortunately, Alpine is a couple hours from me (in Orange County). I envy you...

My Heaven is the Alpine pub with fried pickles and a Nelson in front of me, surrounded by good friends, and a Padres game on the TV in the corner. No need for whales, bro.

Well considering that us Washingtonians drink just about every drop that we make, it's not surprising that you haven't heard of them. Honestly, per capita, craft beer is much more of a way of life in WA and OR than it is just about anywhere else in the country. Nationally craft beer around 5.7% marketshare in terms of volume; in the Northwest it's over 20% of the market. We drink all we can and sell what's leftover.

    no, no similar dream.

but LAGUNITAS just released DAYTIME! that's right, they made a beer that is perfect to drink during the day, at night, you move on to the, ya'know, night time fare.

and that ^^ is the BEER LIFE.

    My ideal (beer) life:

I would live in a tree house with Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia. We would drink Rare and Heady Topper from dusk til dawn as we shared stories from our time on the road (and, for some reason, my stories would be way cooler than both of theirs).

Obviously, I would have a vacation home and a private driver (shouldn't drink whales and drive, bro) at the following places:
    - somewhere close the the beer in Oregon
    - San Diego
    - Brussels, Belgium
    - probs SF too
    - somewhere in Michigan
    - I like Chicago, too
    - maybe somewhere in Florida too

    Private jet would be convenient.

I would also own an awesome brewpub/bottleshop with 3 head brewers that each specialize in sours/meads, stouts and barrel-aging, and A/IPAs. The end.
    A GIRL CAN DREAM.

Fine where I am right now but it would help if I had fewer commitments, more time and a monthly beer travel schedule.
