    Hey guys -

Kinda desperate here and looking for some help. I've bottled and waxed an English Barleywine for my wedding which takes place in 6 days. I'm terrible at visual design projects and for the life of me cannot create a label that looks half-way decent (I have only Microsoft Word at my disposal).

What I'm looking for is someone who might have a better knack for design than I. If someone can help me out by designing a label and emailing me a workable format (BM me for email address), I will return the favor by sending a bottle of Hill Farmstead's Vera Mae and some other goodies. I already have adhesive label sheets (8x11) to print on. Once the label is set, all I have to do is print 'em up and slap them on the bottle.

What I'm looking for in the label:
    • Beer Name - 'For Better, For Worse'
    • An image of two wedding rings (white gold/silver preferred, not a big deal if yellow gold though)
    • Beer Style - English Barleywine
    • ABV - 10.3%
    • Best After 9/10/2013 (one year anniversary)
    • Short description (rear label, perhaps) - 'Like marriage, this beer will improve with age. Please store in a dark, cool climate. Serve at 55 degrees (symbol preferred)'
The beers are bottled in 22oz brown 'bomber' bottles and waxed with a pink/peach colored wax. I was thinking of a font similar to the Goose Island Juliet bottle. Will upload a photo of the waxed bottles momentarily (can't access flickr from work PC).

I'm hoping to print these up tomorrow evening, so I will pick a winner by 3PM tomorrow.

Peach/Pink will be the color of the boutonnieres/bouquet. We haven't finalized the table decor as of yet. It's a small wedding (12 guests) so we are taking our time with details. I'm in a navy suit with a gold/silver tie and my bride is in white (shocker!). I think the wax will tie the bottles into the wedding colors well enough.

I'm too busy doing important things to spend time on such silliness. :grinning:

I didn't even get a chance to 'shop a beer on his desk or make the light scatter match the BA color pallet.
"Unfortunately for you, I'm taking the classy road." pffft.

    Really, though. Congrats bearontwowheels!

The competition is heating up! Hmph, DavidDulock and FalconA have all submitted labels. It's going to be tough crowning a winner!

I think they should have to post their labels here to be in the running!

I haven't decided if a BA poll should decide the winner of the contest or if I should hand that responsibility over to the bride to be. Decisions, decisions.

I will contemplate over a tasty beer tonight and get back to y'all.

Thanks to everyone so far for contributing ideas. I had some good ideas, but realized today I have no skills whatsoever in photoshop, paint, etc.

If this doesn't do it, I don't know what will. I think it really ties your BA persona into your special day.

Of course, I will recreate it without the watermarks if you purchase it from the copyright holder and send 2 bottles of Vera Mae. Thanks for the chance!

this is scaled 8.5 x 5.5 which is half an 8.5 by 11 page, which according to my research is about the same size as a standard label on a 22oz. A very subtle background color would be ideal as part of the elegance of the Juliet labels is the off-white paper it is printed on. You can try to replicate that with a subtle background pattern and color but my experience is that without a really good printer, it just comes out looking cheap.
