No clue how this isn't out in some spots in California or the West coast yet, but was released in buffalo ny today.

Hit two local shops and two BevMos this week looking for Parabola. One shop sold out same day, the other is expecting next week, one BevMo did not get their allotment and the other has a one bottle limit. Four visits one bottle. I hit three stores looking for KBS and I got one four-pack at each store. I should be able to find California beer before Michigan beer.

I've struck out at all the normal places in the Santa Cruz area. Tomorrow is a new day.

The well known bottle shops sell out within a few days. The non-chain grocery stores often have a decent selection of craft beer and they will linger another week or so longer. I just bought one more bottle today because I couldn't help myself. There were still six left that I could tell. Maybe you'll get lucky but message me and I can try and hold one for you.

Just got a bottle from my watering hole in Oly, WA a couple days ago. Cannot wait to try it!

Keep HUNTING! It's hitting different stores and even different locations of the same store chains on different days. I ran into Whole Foods just across the street from BevMo to try and snag a 2nd, and they didn't have it.

It started popping up on a few Cali online sites as well.

Two of my three local eastbay shops had it. Third shop is getting it next week. Happy hunting. 15.99 each.

Damn.. I'm anything but surprised though. Seems like Parabola is pretty hard to come by around here.

Seriously ISO 2 bottles. Would like to expand. PA stuff for trade (Tired Hands, Bullfrog, Pizza Boy) as well as Westbrook stuff.

    [Crossposted in other Parabola thread]

I'm hoping to get some advice from the group. I was able pick up a bottle on Friday and should be able to purchase a couple more. I may be able to track down some in addition to this, but I am debating about how many to target. For context, this is the first year I have sought out beers like Parabola, so I don't have past experience to use as a reference point. The beer would pretty much be for my own consumption - I have not really gotten into trading.

One question I have relates to how this beer ages. I have read in a few posts that it seems to be good for around 1 - 2 years, but things get dicey after this. Is this what others have experienced?

Also, I might start to attend some bottle shares, both locally and around festivals. Again, I am basically a novice when it comes to this. Would this beer be welcomed at most bottle shares or would it be looked down upon since it is technically a "shelf" beer?

Additionally, for anyone who has the option to buy multiple bottles, do you have general thoughts on how you determine a number to target?

I'm not sure if this the right place for these questions - please let me know if I should post this elsewhere. Thanks in advance.

IMO, 3. One to drink now, one to drink in a year, and one as an extra incase you LOVE it in a year...

This. Which is why I always aim for a dozen lol. Got a dozen last year and the year before, and I still lose sleep on not being able to get my hands on any, or the ones I have running out prematurely.

With this year's vintage drinking like it is right now, the correct answer is "as many as you can." I bought five, but I'm planning to buy one or two more, if I can find it at the right price. Some of those will be set aside for future verticals (like this one from yesterday), but I doubt I'll try pushing it past 3 years, so any extras will just be for when the mood strikes.

Went to opening night at Firestone Venice. Great spot. Picked up parabajava today there (1 limit) but they had a lot of parabola at 2 limit. Got to meet Dave walker. Super humble and nice guy.

Am I the only one getting a nasty bitterness with this years Parabola?

There is a very good chance that Barrelworks in Buellton will have it.
