I love Speedway, and I love Parabola.. But Speedway isn't that thick, and Parabola gets thinner every year.

Except BA Vietnamese.. That beer was nearly flawless, including mouthfeel.

I know "readily available" was one of the prerequisites, but since most of the readily available beers have been mentioned, I would highly advise looking out for any Perrenial (Abraxas, Sump, 17) if you have not tried them. All of their stouts have a huge mouthfeel and they distribute pretty widely.

Back on topic, Boulder Brewing - chocolate shake, and Samuel Smiths - organic chocolate stout both have a decent creamy mouthfeel.

Founders Imperial Stout and Victory Storm King have a great mouthfeel.

Isn't that thick compared to what? The beer that you wanted to brag about having tried that is completely irrelevant to a conversation about "readily available" stouts? Not even sure how the mouthfeel is different giving it's the same fucking base beer.

It's all love baby! Sometimes when you make snobby, braggy posts your shit gets swatted. My man asked for some advice on some easy to snag thicker stouts and you shit on the (solid) recommendations previously given and name drop something most people have zero access to. Sweet action.

Wasn't bragging.. Just saying that BA Vietnamese seemed thicker than regular Speedway.

While the OP did ask for fairly easy to obtain beers, it's not as cut and dried as you might think. Seriously, is there such a thing as 'easy to snag' or 'fairly easy to obtain' beers across the US? Here in Delaware, I have never heard of half the beers you all have mentioned, and believe me.. I'm always looking. The last time I asked for any local establishments to bring in some craft beers, the 1st guy said "that's up to the distributor", and the the 2nd store asked me to write down what beers I wanted. I wrote them down (FYI it was Bells and Shake Porter) back in December, and have yet to get a call. Funny thing was, when I wrote my info down, I saw other names and phone numbers, and plenty of craft beers that those customers were interested in. I've been back to that store 5 or 6 times, and rarely do I see anything new, that's not put out by the macro breweries.

If I want a Boulder Shake (yes it's a porter, but its great), I have to drive 40+ miles into Maryland to get it (which I do on occasion).

My selection for this post would be Southern Tier Choklat.

To the OP: I'm not trying to hijack your post, but seeing all these names I've never heard of, is much better than seeing the SAME names over and over. Now I now have 18 more beers on my bucket list, and my next trip to Maryland, I will be bringing home some Ten Fidy, or Speedway, or .... Thanks!

I had a Weed Dark Ages last night, and it was appropriately dark and creamy. Similar in mouthfeel to Bcbs, actually a reasonable Bcbs substitute all the way around. It's not quite as thick, it's not quite as dense, not quite the same Abv. But it's close enough the similarity in undeniable. Nothing is ever quite Bcbs, it's always the standard That I judge every other BA stout against.

Was going to say Founder's Imperial Stout as well. I have a tougher time finding it though. It's also out of season now.

I do know of two places in town that have it still. One charges $20 for a 4 pack and the other $13. I need to pick up another 4 pack.

Ever try a wee heavy? If you dig big mouthfeel in your beer you should give this style a try. Backwoods Bastard is a wee heavy, Ride the Lion from Clown shoes. Alesmith makes one too.

Thanks to reading this thread this morning, I went out and just picked up a Prairie Bomb!, Peche Mortel, and Aun Mas Todo Jesus.
3 beers, $23. Ugh, hate the ballpark prices, but sometimes it's necessary.
