Had Atypical the other night and going to echo was @BoardwalkBock said. The oak was way too much and ended up overwhelming everything else. I like oak, and I like IPAs, but it turns out I don't like this combination. Maybe if it had less time in the barrel so the oak was more subtle it would have worked for me?

I don't think Atypical is usually oak aged - from my understanding it was just this time around.

Yea haha it was just too much for me. I remember the first rendition of Atypical was not oak aged. That was a tasty brew IMO.

Finally was able to grab some bottles of Barrier at Cable Beverage yesterday. Had the Imposter Pilsner last night, which was decent. Cracked a Money IPA tonight and it was good. Not great. Was expecting a bit more from all the posts. Not sure if it was this batch. It was great when I opened and the first sip. But then the rest just seemed like it wasn't quite where it should be. Better than most shelf IPA's, but no where near Other Half in my opinion.

Have another I'll try this weekend.

I don't know why Money gets all the attention here - I don't consider it the best IPA they make by a long shot.

Imo..The bottles haven't worked out well...the beers have been a shade of themselves
    Except that half and half

Money is just not the same in bottles, no one will convince me otherwise.

Picked up a growler of Money the other day since it was kind of cheap - $16/64oz
It was fine but I'd much rather have Dunegrass, Suburbs, Hop Damn, Ruckus or Deliciouslus. Wish they concentrated on brewing more of these instead.

I really loved Money on tap but the bottle I had back in December wasn't nearly as impressive. Didn't pick up any of this current batch at that price point.

Went to pickup some Newburg cream ale and saw they had Money. They also have SingleCut IPAs for like $10 cheaper than the brewery but their IPAs are not for me.

LOL! Grabbed a bottle of Mo Shuggie to try, even though I wasn't crazy about it the first time. Having it now and will not be getting it again. Not for me. Not bad, but just not what I like out of an IPA. Still ok with their Billy and Full stack beers. And need to try their Imperial Stout, heavy boots of lead, which is in my fridge now.

    It's B&B Beverage in Bayside:

Money is listed at $18 but the sign said $16 in the store. They have Billy and MoShuggie on draft too but ones too juicy and the other too dry. This is a great store though, for Queens. Great selection, fair prices - they even have alot of German and Belgian beer!
Happy to see Dunegrass popped up on BM - hope to see it around town soon.

PS - love the Newburgh beer, I need to visit.

the new Fantastical English pale ale is great - I taste a little but of rye in there possibly?
English pale ales are great - nice to have a local option.

I've seen this listed as an English PA, APA, and IPA... but perhaps IPA more than the others. I think Barrier calls it an "Extra pale ale." It's nearly 7%. Did you think that this drank more like an English PA than an IPA? (I haven't had it.)

Had it at Astoria Bier and Cheese - they listed it as an English PA on the board. Definitely more English than IPA to me. Could have been a touch more maltier but it was very very drinkable - had 2 and could have had more easily. No overpowering American hop feel at all - so I'd call it English.
Think I'm going to pick up some growlers this week.

Got a bottle of Daddy Warbucks from Milk and Hops and, shit, it doesn't disappoint. Nice danky, lemon zest taste; nice creamy feel. So smooth. My biggest complaint with some of the previous bottles was carbonation...no issues here at all. Very well done, Barrier.
