I know this is way in advance, but I noticed they posted the date on their Facebook page recently (Dec.8). I have wanted to go to this for a while, but haven't made it. How have previous years been? What time do you have to get there in order to buy bottles?

Last year, everyone who wanted them could get BBPt5th and 4elf. Don't freak out.

The year before was the disorganized one with 39 bottle of BBPt5th. They learned from that and everything was cool last year.

For the other bottles (which weren't very good anyway), some time around noon maybe?

This is a party first with a secondary bottle release. They have great stuff on draft that you can drink while waiting in the bottle line.

The highlight of the party last year was definitely the stuff on tap (bourbon-barrel Perkulator is still the greatest beer I've had from them... hope they have it again this year!). They bottled a shitload of BBPt5 and had plenty for most everyone. Relax, don't worry, and disembark the hype train.

Not trying to start the hype train, that's why I figured I'd post this now and people might forget about it in the next couple months when it gets closer to the event.

I've been looking forward to this for quite a while and really want to be able to get 4 elf and BBpt5 more than anything. I did notice that they had a ton last year from what I had read, so I wasn't really worried about that so much. I didn't know if this is one of the events that people camp overnight for, or if I got there a couple hours before I would be ok.
Looking forward to whatever crazyness they have on tap, they make some of my favorite stuff from MI. Hoping they have Sasparilla 666 or the BB Cherry Trip Ale people raved about last year.

Stopped in today and spoke with them, don't bother coming, it's going to be terrible. Nothing to see here folks.

I'll be there, not sure if the wife wants to go again. Massive line cutting really killed it for us even though we had fun in the end.

I had a great time last year. Showed up around noon(?), maybe later, and we were fine. They nixed the bottle sharing outside though, so many people were sleeping in their cars when we arrived.

I didn't notice any cutting....or not much anyway! They gave you a poker chip with a number on it when you get there (I think they opened at 2pm ish)...then you hung out at the pub until they sold the bottles (5pm?)....then you got in line according to your number...simple!

Line cutters at bottle releases can eat a D! (edited for the younger crowd on here)

They changed the venue. They will be having the party at Founders instead. See you all in Grand Rapids!!

I didn't notice much cutting either. I showed up around 11, got in line, got a poker chip with number on it and then they let us in the pub around 11:30 or there about to go drink becasue they nixed the bottle sharing. They started the party maybe around 3. Everyone was lining up starting around 2:30 in the beer garden and all you really had to do was ask the people around you what number they were and move up to your designated number spot as labeled on the poker chip, everyone was happy to let numbers below there own get in front of them to their designated spot. With showing up at 11, me and my two buddies were 45-47. I personally love the 4Elf party, and really enjoyed everything they had to offer on tap i was able to try and am a little skeptical that the 2012 party will be KBS Release Hysteria - Round 2.

I would also have to agree that line cutters can eat a **** meat sandwich no matter what event it is. (Happens about 15 times every festival)

It was that simple and organized.... until you got inside. Then they didn't check numbers at all, and basically me having chip 57 resulted in a solid 2 1/2 hrs until getting the bottles along with a guy that wanted to fight me when I called him out for line cutting. This year I'll just relax and take it as it is. 4Elf is always a solid party (especially the food).

Yeah no one from Darkhorse was checking numbers, we were kind of going on the honor system (sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't). This may open up pandora's box, but IMO the line cutting just goes back to the sense of entitlement some people in the 'community' seem to have. They must think they're more important. Like Burt Reynolds or something.
