I'm still trying to figure out the appeal of this beer. I can understand people saying it's Top Five TX IIPA and all, but that's because most of those are underwhelming, too.

For point of reference, I wasn't impressed with Heady, either.

I agree. This tastes like a lighter version of Deviant Dale... In a bad way. I love heady, so any time someone sends it your way you just let me know when I can pick it up.

Last time I had a Deviant Dale, it was batch 666; needless to say it tasted fantastic. Also, I don't plan on getting any Heady, but if I do, I'll let you know.

I agree with both points. IPA's are definitely all about personal preference. My top two ipa's are Marin brewing white knuckle and drakes aroma coma. Both of which aren't widely popular. I've plenty of the highly touted IPA's (pliny, heady, pure hoppiness, zombie dust, etc..) but white knuckle and aroma coma are my personal favorites.

I tend to like floral hops which is why I personally like southern star DIPA over super IPA. It's funny because southern star pro am is ranked higher on BA but super IPA is rated higher on ratebeer.

Heady is bet if you drink all 16 ounces. If you don't, it comes off peppery.

I would love to try aroma coma.

Wow. I could not disagree more. ProAm is better than or as good as Endeavour, which is the best Texas brewed DIPA in my opinion. I honestly put it up there with Hoptimum as my three favorite, Texas accessible, DIPAs.

HEB Pearland is getting ProAm Tuesday and Super IPA later this week.

    Off with your head!
I have it as my only perfect 5...hopefully it doesn't get lonely but it could be awhile before I find something that compares (and I 'love' beer...I.E. I generally have beers ranked above their BA avg.) Interesting to hear people put it up there with Endeavour...I will have to seek it out then.

I just rated BCBS as a 5 on untappd. I think I may have 8 or so fives.

I have so much drinking to do to catch up. I'm probably on 200+ unique beers this year, but I probably only had 100 in the previous 10 years of drinking. I'll probably start doing formal rankings starting some time this year...I didn't want to jump the gun and submit horrible reviews

I just looked and apparently have given 19 5s. Some I look back on and say no way, but most I'll defend.

In the past year I've had 652 unique beers (started untappd 9/9/11). I'm guessing in the previous ten years I probably tried around 300-400, but never kept track. I think of beers all the time I've had that I wish untappd existed when I had them, but I don't check in beers I didn't have since it came out. Like I've had bigfoot 2005, but don't have it checked in.

    It's a neat little tool.

Another plus for the Pro Am is the price point. At $7.60/4 pack it's the most affordable TX IIPA that I've found.

    What the hell? That's amazing.

Shocked the hell out of me. My Round Rock Specs had it and my beer guy there recommended it.

Beyond good! I think it surpassed Endeavour, which is tough to do. I'm heading back there this afternoon to pick up more...if it's still around.

Pretty good IIPA. DAMN good for ~$7.50.

It tastes a lot like Deviant Dales to me.

FYI: Just saw some at the HEB on Brody/Wm. Cannon. I pickedd up another 4pk. They also had at least 4 bottles of Black Butte 24. The young lady there said they are getting 120 on Monday, hopefully.

This beer is farking amazing. They need to make this year round and call it a day. I'd return constantly to that watering hole.

According to my Duff rep, they plan on eventually making it available year-round. It'll probably be awhile though.

After much careful deliberation and sampling, I would have to say that my choice of Endeavor vs. Pro-Am 2012 would go to Pro-Am. I really like Endeavor but it seems to go up and down depending on my taste buds. The freshness (dates) don't seem to matter much. The Pro-Am has been consistent with each can.... grapefruit/pine/brown sugar aroma with a taste that follows, with excellent body and carbonation. If they make this year round, I will be in trouble.

From a source I was told that they are buying 10-15 acres near their current location. Possibly a expansion is in the near future.
