Dark Lord Day 2016

Only Dark Matter Coffee.

 

With all the work that goes into Dark Lord Day....its one less thing for them to think about. They don't even sell a lot of glassware out of the brewpub.

 

Also note that all of the glassware has been available at the Dark Matter Mothership following DLD. Not sure how long it lasted 2 years ago, but most of it lasted 2 weeks last year.

 

But it hasn't been the same color. Its like a mass retail variant. They've done gold and purple at DLD and the stuff online and at the mothership has been silver. Is that a big deal? You decide!

 

The first year they sold the glassware online, you could only purchase the silver version that was not available in person at DLD.

 

I have yet to see anything about glassware at this year's DLD.

 

Yeah I totally get that....just hopeful for something easier to deal with.

 

2 years ago it lasted about an hour or two....if that. but they also weren't anticipating such a huge demand. Last year they ordered a shit ton more.

 

I would imagine that a picture would come out a week or so before the event. usually Dark Matter posts it on their IG account. At least that's what they've done the last 2 years.

 

Finally got my Group A tickets. Going to swing into Cali a few days before and pick up some Pliny and 2013-15 Parabola from my hookup to bring to DLD.

 

Anyone know why they don't have glassware for just FFF/DLD? It seems strange to me that they only do it through Dark Matter - maybe I'm missing a reason why I should care about Dark Matter?

 

Dark Matter is the coffee used to make Dark Lord.

This is why you should care.

 

A different color vs spending an extra 2 hours standing in line? Simple decision for me.

 

I could be wrong, but I swear I purchased all color variants of the snifters online a few days after DLD last year.

 

Anyone want my bottles? I'm only going for the glassware.

 

That's because they increased production since it was such a shit show the year before. So they offered the unsold ones up on the site.

 

I guess that makes sense.

 

You see, over the course of 12 months, evil Hobbitses, otherwise known as Gollum clones, hiss and scream and finally sing at the frightened coffee beans until they're almost ready to release one droplet of concentrated anguish. That's when the skinny-fingered, Japanese lady-ghosts come in and tickle the beans until the droplet is released. Each droplet is pooled together in giant cauldrons and bottled by Alan Rickman (too soon?) for release on Dark Lord Day.

This is the true reason why you should care about how Dark Matter coffee is used to make Dark Lord [imperial stout].

Now, the discussion on how the Dark Lord himself was made is an entirely different [Dark] matter.

 

I actually enjoyed this story and was left hoping for more.

 

Finally got mine today! Group A 007 and 008
