Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

I'm outraged this isn't a barrel aged stout.

 

i want 4 bottles next time of mbp! got me for another event indeed!

 

Anyone who loves ipas needs to get over to Insurrection and get some double galaxy sasquatch, it's damn good.

 

Someone want to bring some to Meadville?

It was pretty damn good! Finally went for the 1st time earlier this week. The Guerilla Activity was also good, a brett IPA/wild ale//whatever. The porter wasn't bad, but a major step behind Mr. Automatic.

This was excellent IMHO. A very slight step down from the recent Galaxy doubles from Roundabout and BG (both of which were awesome) but for those of us in the South Hills, Insurrection is doing some great things.

 

I was only there once but I was very impressed. I have to get back out that way. Their food isn't bad either!

 

Still have yet to get over there but it's at the top of my local breweries I need to try list.

 

Biggest problem is they run out of stuff too frequently. Definitely check first because I've been there when they have only had a few beers available. Otherwise ithe hoppy stuff is excellent and the RIS I had was solid too.

 

What happened to this thread? Used to get 10 pages a day!?

I'm still recovering from how great ManBearPig was to even think about other beer related things right now.

 

I checked out insurrection for first time this weekend and that sasquatch is best juicy galaxy ipa to go through the burgh.....i went to brew gentlemen on way home and had gen braddock and the g funk friday and wasnt even close to that damn sasquatch!! only thing comparable was the mammoth imo, but i didnt get any of the roundabout

 

Coming from out of town for the Voodoo event. What are some breweries/bars/events I need to visit while in the area?

 

Given where the brewery is, I'd check out Brew Gentlemen and maybe eat at Fat Heads. Depends how long you will be in town really. There is no shortage of options.

 

You had better get to Voodoo VERY early. Like, 8am early.

And Brew Gentlemen is the correct answer to your question. It's just a couple of miles away. they open at noon.

 

Coming from NYC, I'm used to lining up early. Really appreciate the info guys
