You won't find it. They release it 2-3 times per year (I'm not sure exactly how many, but my guess is 2) and it goes off shelves pretty quickly. It does make it to stores, but the last release was in February and it's long gone. It is a great beer, though.

2 Double Daisy Cutter releases back (November) it was distributed to some Chicago bottle shops as well as suburban tap houses. I went and grabbed 4 bottles at $10/11. It was Cardinal Liquors and Taproom on Milwaukee Ave as an FYI

    How long ago was that?

I should mention also, that I would not go out of my way for 2+ month old DDC anyway. And that is coming from someone that is a big fan of it. I definitely wouldn't tack on the extra $15 or so to get from Jak's to WLV for it.

Anyone else making the trip from the East Coast? Made the trip last year but only stopped at Great Lakes on the way back (time constraints). We took extra time off this year and are making a trip out of it. Any breweries that we should hit that aren't too far off I-80 or I-90?

Double Daisy won't be around. They last made it in February, and they always make Galactic double Daisy (DDC with galactic hops) for Chicago craft beer week, which is the second week in May, so that will be its next appearance.

If you get the bombers of HA stuff, it'll be on shelves.

Made a similar drive a few times from Baltimore. Weyerbacher is about 30 mins south of I80 in Easton, PA. Voodoo is about 30 mins north of I80 in Meadville, PA. Fat Head's is about 20 mins northeast of I80 just outside of Cleveland. Brew Kettle is basically on I80 just outside of Cleveland. Dark Horse is about 35 mins north of I90 in Marshall, MI. Bell's is about an hour north of I90 in Kalamazoo, MI.

That's a good clarification. Places like WLV, Beer Temple, Binny's, etc. will definitely have it the week after it is release (or a little bit longer) at the brewery. As for now, from the most recent release...it's gone, and hopefully everyone that had it has drank it up.

Honestly, I grabbed glassware last year, no line. I just wanted that stupid-huge goblet. I don't advocate standing in line for almost ANY form of glassware.

It can double up as a weapon. The thing is so damn heavy I feel that if I dropped it on my foot, I could break a toe or two.

That's good to hear. I'm of the same mindframe that I don't stand in line for glassware - if there is no line, I will definitely check it out, though.

What does everyone use for the bottle sharing in line before the event? What kind of glass do you use? Just plastic cups or cheap glasses ?

Thanks @tommytnt @croush @Wallham @Nbrock24 @BecauseWhalezbro for all the tips. I'll try to catch Double Daisy Cutter in the future.

It would be the first time my guest visits Chicago and we'll probably be doing touristy things like going to the Bean, go up Willis Tower, Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, Buckingham Fountain, etc. so won't have too much time to grab bottles. It looks like some beer stores near those attractions like Binny's (through instacart) and Printer's Row Wine Shop Craft Beer & Spirits deliver. Hopefully they have some 3F online.

Can anyone comment on the beer selection at the Whole Foods near Jaks? (1 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60661) That seems most convenient given the longer hours, or do they not sell beer in supermarkets in Chicago?

Whole Foods will have a good selection and decently priced, no whole paycheck like the food
