Funny, and good point. I come from the wine school of thought (there's no great wines, only great bottles), so it doesn't shock me whenever there is an individual instance or two of issues. It seems like there would've been more of an uproar over this already if there were an issue, but who knows...just look at Oddside (or don't, depending on who/what you believe!).

A rather amusing amount of untapped check ins are showing sour notes and unusually low scores. It may be a randomly large group of trolls, but it is worth taking a second look at. The trade boards today also saw a fire sale on prop. Probably just a conspiracy

Thanks for the insight. Even thought I don't have a bottle, I find it intriguing. Caution either way...either with trolls or a potentially bad bottle! I've wanted to acquire one, so now could be a good (or awful) time to go for it.

No. Bottle opened on Saturday had lots of sherry notes. It could be the bottle storage conditions, but this is in line with other 7+ year old BCS bottles I've had. Maybe the people who got some at Whole Foods will say different.

Also, have had bottled Prop 2015 two weekends in a row now. It's still the sticky diabeetus beer it was back when it's released. Infection rumors likely trolls.

There's an awful random liquor store in Lincoln Park still trying to sell bottles of Rare for $130. Bottles have been sitting behind the counter in what seems like 75 degree temps (place is always stupid warm inside) with indirect sunlight hitting the bottle (no longer in the box) for the last four months. Quite the deal, IMO.

I wondered what they were gonna have for it. I figured there would be some Bourbon County, but I wasn't expecting Prop and Regal! I had thought about working from home so I could swing to grab some, since Sheffield's is 2 blocks from home. Oh well.

For the record, the '09 they were selling was the 22oz bottle version. So the price makes more sense. However, from my experience the bomber version was not as good as the 12oz version so I passed.

Good pass. I did an 09-15 vert with both rares a couple months ago and everyone agreed that 09 was well past its prime. No barrel character at all.

I had an 09 a few months back, and I personally thought it was phenomenal. Chocolatey fudge goodness.

Several of us did a vertical three years ago with the variants plus two years before they bottled for general public that was brought to GABF. Great night to say the least.

Had an 09 bomber a couple months back and it definitely seemed a bit past its prime. Still great though, had no trouble finishing a glass

Bomber or 12oz bomber? There has historically been a noticeable difference between the two. 12oz version was phenomenal, bomber not so much. Not bad by any means, but 12oz version for some reason was that much better. I never found an answer to why the two were different, but can't say I've ever looked.

No, regular was released in bombers and 12oz in '09. Rare was the following year. Unless you're telling me something I'm not aware of with the regular '09.

BTW, I've always wondered about your avatar. I always imagine its Paul Westerberg or Neil Gaiman, but I imagine that's not the case.

Bad joke about an old, fake infographic about barrels used for BCS that claimed 08 (or something) was in Pappy barrels.
It's Dream from Sandman, so you're right on. Pretty sure it comes from one of Dave McKean's covers or interpretations.

Thanks! There's been a few other Sandman/Gaiman fans on here over there years, and always great to connect

We had an 09 bomber 2 weeks ago and it definitely is heading the wrong direction. We also had an 08 recently and It has pretty much fallen off a cliff.
