i'll be honest, i think its a terrible move on their part for charging that much for DD tickets. Its going to deter or make people second guess bringing a DD after drinking 7 high abv beers. smh.

    Yeah, no.
    • FFF's price includes bottles, which speeds up the fucking line
    • FFF's price lets you choose whatever damn food/beer you want, not 7 rolls of the dice on "maybe it'll be good" BA drafts
    • FFF's price includes in-and-out access to bottle shares and metal bands, not 2 hours to chug 7 drafts
    • FFF isn't pretending that $70 is a fair price for 2 craft sodas, some food, a shirt, and no allotment
    • FFF earned that price after half a decade continually improving their event

You could use the same logic with dark lord, I only wanted two regulars and no variants but had to pay for the full allotment.

Your're factoring in the bottles you receive into your price vs time there? I dropped more than $170 at binnys on black friday and was only there for 3 minutes.

Nowhere did I attempt to justify the DD tickets. $5 with all you can drink soda would have been a fair price. I doubt they sold any. It guess it would have been nice to see DD tickets get to buy bottles, but it doesn't really matter since regular tickets are still available, so it's not like that's your only option.

And would anyone here have actually bought the DD tix if they were available for $5? Good luck convincing your girlfriend/wife to take off the day and come hang out at a beer event where she isn't allowed to drink any beer. That's a harder sell than the $70.

Apples and oranges. I never mentioned allotment. I spoke specifically about pours. You can't get your pours to go at 18th Street, as far as I know. The actual bottles are a whole separate charge.

The biggest joke of the whole thing (not including the DD, because that's on a whole nother level of stupid), is the 2 hour window. 2 hours to chug 7 beers, and that's assuming everyone is in at open (which for session 2 might be the case).

Higher prices + mediocre beers + short time window = lagging ticket sales

I believe you may be missing my point. I'm trying to justify the price of a $70 DD ticket which includes a shirt, 2 sodas and food items. DDs will alway be inconvenience by not partaking in the joys of drinking beer. I think you're forgetting DDs choose not to drink for their own reasons, some don't drink alcohol period, others would rather watch their friends or loved ones enjoy their day or night out to make sure they get home safe. I've been a DD for free many times for my wife and friends.

Correct!! The bottom line is tickets have been on sale for almost a week and still not sold out. 18th St can ignore the negative comments all they want and people can try to justify why it's worth the $75, but the fact of the matter is the demand for these beers at this price is not there. I'm sure 18th St could save some face in the court of public opinion by making some changes on the fly for the better, but we all know that won't happen.

People from the LoE and early afternoon sessions couldn't return to the brewery to reload?

I think he's saying it'd be a lot more easier logistically for the 2nd session, as they would already physically be there. Most of the LOE/Session 1 folks would have left and gotten on with the rest of their day...or maybe not.

They could have, but that also wasn't announced beforehand that the bottles would be sold to anyone as soon as session 2 ended. Kind of a surprise to everyone. The stouts went quick, so unless you were still in Gary, you didnt have a chance.

And yes, being at the bar at a closed event immediately before the general public was let in put you in a much better position.

My sentiments exactly. I planned on making it a lighter day before DLD as I'll be up at 6:00

Sure, but to be clear -- Session 2 people had to line up outside for something like an hour before the general public was let in.

If you go to their original "buy" link, it shows people who are going next to the session...session 1 has 192, session 2 has 86. 0 names next to DD tickets.

I woke up after night shift to the alert these were on sale, and bought without looking at the offering to "beat the rush." I'm not exactly upset, but definitely have buyers remorse. Had I read it first I would've passed. As it stands, I may pick up a BA and Cognac bank, but I'm likely just begrudgingly enjoying the $70 bar tab for 35oz of beer.

Yeah. Nothing like $70 to essentially drink 3 12 oz bottles in 2 hours.

I would have bought DD tickets. I'm pregnant, but would still like to go hang with the spouse while he drinks beer and talk about it with other folks. If given the chance to buy bottles, that would be a bonus. At $70...no damn way.
