So is there A LOT of coffee in the coffee stout? I see singles of it at TW and havent pulled the trigger yet.

Hell no, I can barely taste any, .......again I am use to drinking FBS, and just recently SMS. But still, it tastes like water, no "strong " coffee flavor at all 2 me, tastes like water. Don't waste your $$$

Picked up a single of the coffee, thought it was well done and an easy drinker. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 4pk when I'm in the mood

Did Sam Adams really miss on this one or am I missing something? I thought this beer was lacking in taste and substance. Looked good. I bought a four pack. Tried one. Tried a second one. Poured out the last two.

I don't think they missed it any more than anyone else who's done a Nitro IPA. Not a good combination from my perspective.

Nitro and IPA don't go together IMO. The C02 adds to the bitterness...nitro loses it.

Nitro is best used in a beer that you want to reduce bitterness and add creamy-ness. IPA's don't fall into that category for me. There's a reason nitro has been very successful in stouts.

Also, an excellent use (IMO) is Belhaven Scottish Ale, but maybe because I didn't go into it with expectations like I would for an IPA.

Like I said in another thread...I tried the coffee stout and really was not a fan. Barely any coffee at all and way too sweet (maybe from the creamy feel of the nitro). If you're brand new to coffee stouts and want to ease into them, I guess it isn't going to hurt to try it, but I think most of us who like coffee stouts are going to find it pretty lackluster compared to some of the more flavorful ones out there. It has a really nice presentation though, I kind of doubted the nitro widget was going to work as well as it did.

I'll probably try the others if I find them as singles, but I don't expect much from them.

Really liked the nitro coffee stout. Not comparing apples to apples with Sunday Morning Stout and Founders Breakfast Stout as stated above. Not many beers stand up to Founders Breakfast Stout and Sunday Morning Stout is a giant barrel aged beer. Way to go Sam Adams on this one, nice beer, nice price, no "hunt" or waiting list required.

I still haven't seen these on the shelves in the Cleveland area. I've been keeping an eye out lately as I'd like to give these a try. Did they not release these yet in some markets?

How about some more level/appropriate/relevant comparisons: How does this Coffee Stout compare to Left Hand's Hard Wired Nitro Coffee Porter?

I haven't had that particular one, but to my memory, it was the second worst stout I've ever had...the first worst being a stout by a local brewery that had the consistency and carbonation levels of soda fountain syrup. Maybe I'm just drinking really great stouts (I doubt it, I don't hunt whalez) or maybe this is a pretty flavorless stout. This is also one of the only nitro beers I've had, so it's possible I also really don't like nitro stuff.

Bought a four pack of the Nitro IPA this past weekend. Enjoyed it, but mouthfeel was just too smooth for me.

I tried this today. It tasted pretty good, but it sat way too heavily on my stomach. I drank it while eating a burger and I could barely finish it.
