    ***PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY***

I don't make unsubstantiated claims, I would think that I have some sort of clout being here and trading for as long as I've and have some sort of reputation even if 98% of you do not know me. However, there has been some scuttlebutt of infected REGULAR 2015 BCBS. I didn't believe it at first and thought, there's no way but tonight one of my good friends @mxracercam went through 7 bottles of BCBS and said all of them were 'off and infected'. I've been around the game long enough to know who's yanking my chain and who knows what about good and bad beer and @mxracercam has a very refined palate so I take his claim seriously. He stores all of his beers at cellar temp so storage is not the issue

I'm not saying the sky is falling because I have multiple different Lot #'s of '15 BCBS and mine were fine. However, certain locations might have bad batches. So what I'm asking here is to post good or bad lot #'s and where the bottle may have been bought or traded from.

Again this is just a database thread to localize possible 'off' batches. I really hope it is not widespread

    My cases are:
    #1027- Good (Port Charlotte, FL)
    #1035- Good (Port Charlotte, FL)
    #1036- Good (Port Charlotte, FL)

And there's some Tampa people too reporting bad bottles, different distributor than Sarasota. I got mine from the FT Myers distributor

#1238 Lot reported to be good from a friend of mine in NC or it was muled from NJ

Wait....so you didn't even drink the alleged infected beer? Your friend did?

Nothing fans a rumor fire like secondhand stories. He's on BA...why didn't he start the thread himself?

I literally just started a threads tonight about the same issue. I heard reports of "infection" from others in a FL beer group on Facebook so I opened a bottle of mine last night (first bottle I have opened in 2 or 3 months) and it definitely was exhibiting off flavors. A sourness and astringency similar to what the barleywine had. My bottle had NOT been refrigerated the whole time. 14.3% 21Oct15 1324

Listen I'm just trying to help, I'm not trolling, but there's a lot of us who use BA just for trading. I don't post much in the other subforums but I felt it was necessary to let others know about the issue. All I'm trying to say is try 1 bottle, see if it's turning and post your findings.

@mxracercam can post his photos or findings on here but it's going to be the same message

I seriously cannot fucking believe this has to be said again, but THOSE ARE NOT MOTHERFUCKING BATCH/LOT NUMBERS. They are time stamps and they mean nothing! If anything is of importance it is probably the date on the bottles but who knows.

That being said, I have had several bottles and they have all been great.

I'll check back in 3 days. This will be fun... again.

I totally had a regular BCBS this year that tasted off. The other 3 I had were fine.. But the first one was definitely wrong. I don't know much, but I know what BA stouts are supposed to taste like.

I have opened one of the eight bottles I got in Orlando on Black Friday. It was definitely off… tart and metallic. I am opening a second bottle tonight to see if it was an isolated incident, but I'm worried that others in my area are experiencing it.

I get that it has to suck to get infected bottles, especially in a beer as sought after as this, but you sound like Dustin Hoffman trying to find everyone who's had contact with the monkey. Have a healthy beer and downshift a little.
Edit: That would have been a good one for that movie and beer pairing thread. BCBS and Outbreak. Wish I thought of that.

Hearsay threads are bullshit of the highest order. Your buddy went through how many bottles? Sounds like an expensive night, and a very drunk one on top of it. But, let's get to some facts about this beer. It was released how many months ago, and it sat in barrels for how long before that? It might actually be in the middle of what it should be doing as an aging vessel and the taste will shift again and it will be glorious in a few months, and your buddy and the three friends you reached out too, and their pals who chimed in all screwed up and drainpoured hundreds of dollars down the toiet.
A brewery releases barrel aged beer when they believe they are ready. Not before, and not after. It is a crap shoot that has delicious results when all the components come together. A brewer cannot, and should not make promises on what is a living vessel that is a direct result of encouraging it to change. If you truly expect them to NOT be infected ever. It would involve flash pastuerization, or ripping the barrels completely apart. Either way. You are going to be making a sacrifice on flavor and the point of aging them in the first place, or be paying a premium that'll make the costs right now seem fire sale cheap in comparison.

I only have 1 bottle of what was reported as 1235 but bottled on nov 11. I ve been meaning to drink one anyway might as well be this one. I have one bottle bottled in Sept the rest all bottles in Nov.

I'm just sayin here Anythings possible. But.... It's been 4 months give or take since release and it's both widely and fairly densely distributed. If there was a general problem it would be here by now, Coffee and BW popped up immediately after release. Always a possibility of a bad capping here or there, perhaps a stray oxidized bottle. I've had infected Stouts and it's not a maybe, it was consistent everywhere and very easy to single out. If there was an infected bottling it seems logical it would be quite easily recognized and wide spread and would have starting popping up around Thanksgiving or so. At that point it would have been bottled for over a month or so stored at room temps. I've had oxidized stouts and they just taste stale with no tart cherry taste. Still off but it could be a bad capping, improper storage etc.

I have had 3 bottles so far, one Christmas Eve, one in late January and one this past Sunday, and all have been stellar without any issues. I have six left with plans to give two away, so I hope this doesn't pan out into anything other than a semi-isolated incident.

Nice diatribe. I know how barrel aging beers work and how flavors can shift, I'm not a noob and don't need the lesson. I'm just bringing it to everyone's attention. I'm not saying to drainpour the damn beer and I'm sure he didn't want to drainpour his either cause it is expensive but we all know when a beer had turned. If he wants to chime in fine but hopefully it's just a certain barrel at a certain date, at a certain time.
