Will put this out there, if anyone sees it and potentially wants to leak that info on here, I will be forever grateful haha

I've been on the hunt myself and know that Liquor Barn Hamburg had one case earlier today.

I missed out and would appreciate it if anyone knows where to score. Thanks!

Anyone know if Hamburg gets it every week?

I made a few calls yesterday and in Lexington, the only two places that I'm aware received any were LB Hamburg (1 case, which sold out quickly) and The Beer Trappe (one case, bar consumption only).

Anyone know who the distributor is the 3 Floyds in Lexington? Just curious.....

My 2 cents as a retailer, I would suggest face to face contact vs calling in if you are trying to find extremely limited beers. For even better results, actually buying some "shelf turds" and asking when you are paying will yield even better results.

There is a good chance you are the 10th person to call or duck your head that day asking about KBS, Pappy, stagg, Zombie Dust, or whatever the flavored whale of the week is.

I def agree with you about being somewhat loyal. Some of these beers are really difficult to get ahold of period though. Zombie dust is such a weird situation here because it's so sporadic. I am loyal to all the stores in Lexington. I buy something at each one, liquor barn, beer trappe, w+m, shenanigans, etc. It sucks though when I call and bam, they have three bottles but didnt tell me they were getting it when I called them yesterday about it. I like beer hunting but jumping through these hoops can suck sometimes!

In other news, I am wondering if the LB and Beer trappe getting zombie dust is good news for us getting some on Friday also at shenanigans and other places!

On our order, we just put Three Floyds. We never know what will show up. So calling the day before wont help. Not all accounts get every available three Floyds each week.

Be happy that we are getting weekly three Floyds in KY. It used to be much worse with months of dry spells.

Well how does it work then on what you do get? Like there has to be some type of transparency. Do you get to choose when the truck comes? If there are 3 cases of dreadnaught and you want two, do you get that choice?

Most places won't get more than 1 case of dreadnaught. When I helped open the LB (and worked there) down in BG I'm pretty sure I was the one that made them put bottle limits on that stuff.... but that's a whole other story. 12 bottles hit, maybe 8 make it to them "limited" section. You just gotta be on top of shit, there is no transparency, either you get it or you don't. That's beer.

I guess my issue is in, how do you know what will pop on that truck and what you will potentially get to sell? Say you only really sell some alpha King, are you still able to get the bombers to sell? Just seems a bit strange to me since the liquor marts in Richmond get such different 3 floyds to sell from
Lexington. I can go up and get alpha King easily but Lexington, I never see it there. Just stopped by today and they still have blot out the sun but I never see it in Lexington.

This is absolutely true. I remember as recently as this time last year in Louisville, you'd see one or two bombers every two weeks or so, and MAYBE a six pack of Robert the Bruce or Jinx Proof once a month. These days there's at least something on the shelves most places, and seeing Gumballhead or Alpha King isn't a rarity anymore.

@erichall.....I appreciate what you are saying about supporting the local stores and and building face to face relationships. I've done that at a few local places (and spent money at nearly all of them) but it seems that in order to score the highly sought out brews you have to be present at the time of delivery.

As a 49 year old working stiff, I don't have the leisure to be at the stores at the time the truck shows up. When you have a store getting one case of beer at a 10 a.m. delivery, the odds of me getting any are close to zero.

I also prefer to enjoy at my beer at home so the "bar consumption only" option is not appealing to me.

    @Toadbra

If you are spending $$ with a shop on regular items and are friendly to the staff, they should hold stuff for you.

If they don't, support another local shop.

Keep in mind that you are one of a number of loyal customers. They might not get you every release or multiples of a release. Don't take that as an insult. A 12 bottle case of bombers goes further than a case of 6 or 4 packs.

I could press my rep about which three Floyds are coming but it doesn't matter to me. I will take and can sell whatever they send. Some might take a bit longer than others but all will sell.

When our delivery arrives, they almost always put limited items in a back office for our manager or myself to decide what to do with them. Anything with bottle limits goes behind counter. Anything earmarked for a certain customer goes in back with their name on it. Items that don't sell in a week go on the shelf with bottle limits lifted.

It's not a perfect system but it works for us.

I agree, I know the guys at my local shops well but unfortunately we don't get FFF in TN. There's no way I'm going to be able to create that kind of rapport with an out of state shop. Some are cooler than others. I was in a shop in GA a while back and I asked the guy about Jai Alai. He had one sixer in the back and he sold it to me. Of course we had been talking home brewing for about 20 minutes, lol. I want to find a shop in KY as close to Nashville as possible to grab some stuff we dont get but I know the rare stuff will be tough since I cant be a regular. Thankfully I make a ZD clone thats pretty damn close to the real thing so I'm not too worried about that one.

I've always found when I'm out of state that if you talk to the folks at the store and tell them you're just stopping through and trying to find something local, they'll do their best to help you out, even if it's more limited. It might also be worth finding a trade partner in Southern KY so you can IP trade without having to run around.

I have also found that a good rapport with the shop owners help. I usually talk a lot to them and make them understand I know what I am talking about. I would also look at setting up some trade partners. I only have 3 right now, and its awesome to just see what else is out there. Never would I have thought I would be able to try Pliny, Heady, or Treehouse but I have and its awesome!

True. Yeah, I would be open to trading. I'll have to see what we get that KY doesn't but if any of you guys want to do some trading let me know.
