Just heard on the news that the canyon is fully open once again. I didn't have any issues back in March, but as the weather is getting nicer it's good to hear our only source of misery will be Idaho Springs (as always).

Whats the deal with Idaho Springs, does it always get blocked up with traffic going from Denver to Glenwood Springs?

    Every. Single. Time.

Sometimes they're blasting, sometimes there's an accident, but I have NEVER seen a situation to adequately account for the amount of backup that happens in Idaho Springs. It makes zero sense, but I prepare for it as an inevitability.

I think it's just because everyone's going 80 and then we all hit that curvy downslope after Idaho springs and everyone has to slam on their brakes. It creates a slinky effect and eventually backs up all the way past Idaho springs towards Denver.

That and ski traffic up to Idaho Springs includes people going to Winter Park. After the turnoff for Hwy 40, it always clears up a bit.

Lucky for this release, ski traffic will be at a minimum with all the resorts closed already or closing this weekend (Vail) and next (Breck)

I'm pumped for my first release. Does anyone know how many beers they generally offer?

Not sure the least or most from past releases but would say between 4-8 is a safe range with multiples available for a full allotment

That may be on the generous end, but I haven't seen a release with less than 3 beers since the very early days. With no releases in May and big events planned for June and July, I'd expect this to be a smaller release, but I could be wrong.

Yeah maybe a little generous on the high end, I don't foresee less than 4 or 5 though...

Either way, looking forward to my first release of the year. Haven't been since Dec.

Do they already have stuff planned for June or july?

Yes to both. July will likely be the big draw for most folks as it is the 2nd anniversary.
