Who's going to be the first brewery to center their neck label to the body label? #wegotthesameproblems

Modern Times' labels are pretty damn ugly.

I get pissed off when I see Against the Grain's beers and their pricing. 100% pass every time.

+1 for this. I could picture it like Alestorms or Swashbuckles artwork also.

Victory desperately needs a some new labels. They are one of my favorite breweries, but those labels mean they often sit on the shelf where I am at. I also despise Green Flash labels. They look like they were designed on MS Paint by a seventh grader.

I do also agree about the Brown Note label, however it is an interesting beer. However, I do have to say that ATG labels are distinctive and interesting.

I must disagree about Clown Shoes labels. They have some of the best out there.

Id say Beach Haus in NJ. Sorry but the labels look very bubbly amd cartoonish.

I'll jump on the more information on the label bandwagon... I mean some beers I have seen have literally no information about the beer inside, I don't know if its a Belgian triple, an IPA, a lager or what, let alone the malts and hops. I don't want to have to do an hour of research online to figure out if it's a beer I might like, I want to read the label and know if it's something I want to try.

On the strictly artwork side, I will buy a beer because it has a nifty label because I collect the bottles, whether I like the beer or not. There are some breweries though that I do think could use some revamping, Maine Beer Comany's labels are so bland and the font so small I don't think anyone would buy their beer if it weren't for their reputation, though they are classy. Abita and Green Flash labels aren't very interesting or appealing. I actually like Flying Dog labels, just something about the cartoonish 5th grade Picasso look.

All the Knee Deep Brewing labels with that hop with eyes. It looks like a meme from the early 00's or a very amateurish web comic made with clip art in MS Paint.

Don't be, there are many, many Ralph Steadman fans who, like me, think Flying Dog labels are among the best. I suppose there are other labels done by professional artists, but I can't think of any.

Troegs. The new branding is terrible.

They could have fun with this though, with a version showing the frog pinned down to a dissection tray, and calling the beer "totally pithed"

Great Lakes new label series are looking better and better to me the more I see them. The collage like approach mixed with the painting has opened up the panel for the artist to really play with. If anything, I think it was Green Flash which took a step down with their redesign. I suppose that with the fruit ipa thing going full rocker right now, the sport drink appearance lends that some heft. I'm still on the fence about Deschutes and their new labels, and I think Brooklyn Defender could be upped a bit for its appearance.

I couldn't disagree more. I love Modern Times labels. They are so clean looking and I like the idea of throwing a couple adjectives on the label to give you an idea of the beers intended flavor profile.

Some DFH labels involve Pro artists, although most not as well known as Steadman and his imitators.

The latest round of popular/unpopular Troeg's labels and re-branding involved a pro in consultation with the Brothers.

I'm not so crazy about the Troegs redesign, mostly because it's exactly the kind of look that may be trendy now but will be dated in a few years time.

I cannot agree with people mentioning Bell's labeling, i think it's great. Next you will be saying Cantillon needs to revamp their labels.

i tend to like a simple, if at times formulaic, label. If a brewery wants to keep it utilitarian that's fine but please let me know what i'm buying. I get really upset if it doesn't even mention the style of beer.

Ones I do agree with: Flying Dog, Flying Fish, Magic Hat, Heavy Seas.

As a side note, I must admit that beers with clout tend to get a pass on this. Pliny the Elder is not what i call great packaging but hell if i wouldn't seek it out if given the chance.

Corporate powerpoints look great in comparison to Green Flash labels actually.

I love Trillium's classy, elegant labels. I Think the Alchemist has the coolest cans I've seen, and Treehouses's are great too (they have my favorite logo).

There's no label art so bad it would keep me from buying the beer, but I'll agree I'm no fan of Against the Grain or Flying Dog.
