Alesmith - Bottle Releases

They've been touting their new Vintage Series for a while, and I was excited about new big Alesmith beers to try, cause they've always done a better job at them than most other breweries. They'd mentioned it would be a quarterly release, which sounded good to me. So since they've announced it I've been wondering if their first release, Private Stock Ale, would be different from their Olde Ale or if it was just a rebranding, and the press release today pretty much confirms it's a rebranding. Which is fine, except the other releases are apparently Decadence, Wee Heavy, and Grand Cru... So the new seasonal beer line they keep hyping consists of 2 beers that were already made once a year and 2 former year round beers. Which is all understandable since I know I don't buy bottles of Wee Heavy or Grand Cru frequently, but I can't help but feel there was probably a better way to announce the changes. I'd rather they be upfront and honest about a couple of their beers not selling enough to be year round instead of trying to get people pumped up about a "new" series of beers

Of course, that's coming from someone who's followed them for years. I'm sure people just getting into beer will be stoked about getting some Alesmith Wee Heavy this fall, so maybe that was the right way to announce it. Still disappointing though

Ahh going to be in SD next weekend. Crossing my fingers they have the sale next week to save me a trip.

 

I was really wondering on the stock/ old ale connection. And I agree transparency is always a good thing. not smoke and mirrors about "new" releases.

 

Someone is already trading these away...smh.

 

This happened with a speedway early last year. I don't get it personally but that may be a reason I don't trade a lot of beer anymore.

I'm hoping this will be a payoff for getting their early access package for the museum. Sounds good and I'm rarely disappointed by SS variants.
