Does anyone actually research where these breweries source their ingredients? That might be where to question the prices. Correct me if i'm wrong but price isn't usually set by "how good and hard to get" the brew is, it's typically set by the amount of labor (physical labor, time labor, not to mention the room they have to put aside in the brewery to store againg beers) and where the ingredients are sourced from. Most sours are a good example. It's a much more complex process which is why you see Boulevard's Love Child at upwards of 17.99-20 per bomber rather than 12.99-14.99.

I can appreciate BOMB! but I'm not in love with it. Pirate BOMB!, though, subtly improved in all the right ways and is bloody brilliant. Very unfortunate how difficult it was for me to find, though.

    "Reissue, repackage, Repackage!"

    "Best of! Most of!
    Satiate the need
    Slip them into different sleeves!
    Buy both, and feel deceived"

"But you could have said no
    If you'd wanted to
    You could have walked away
    ...Couldn't you?"

Right now probably like 2 BA's are right with me.

Take an eye dropper and put one drop of vanilla extract in a regular Bomb and it sounds like you'll have this version.

You could also trade for this:

"Cellarmaker Brewing, The next is a new porter inspired by Mexican chocolate. We call it "Sabrosa." With over 2 lbs per barrel of cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, cinnamon and cayenne, this beer is rich yet sublimely drinkable, subtly spicy, intense aromas of dark chocolate, and has the lightest lingering heat for added complexity. We think you'll really enjoy this one. 8.1% ABV 61 IBUs. "

Price be DAMNED, I want to try it! My experience with this brewery has been nothing but positive.

Buddy and I did a blind side by side with regular, pirate, and BA the other night. Both of us definitely could tell the three apart, but both preferred BA over pirate. Regular was obviously different and ranked at the bottom. Not what I expected after reading this thread. I personally put vanilla noir and Branson jamboree ahead of all the bombs, but that's just me. Price......definitely not an inexpensive beer here in MI. Something I'll splurge on for a few beers, but not buy quantities of no matter how great it is. Same way with Avery BA beers. Love them, but will only buy a couple.

It's important to remember that Prairie is still a contract brewery also, so pricing is pretty much in line with that. Think Evil Twin, etc...

I did not know that - that actually explains a lot.

Clown Shoes seems to have figured out a way to put out some pretty tasty barrel aged bombers at a reasonable price.

I must have been dreaming when I thought I worked at Prairie doing some bottling and packaging. Some are brewed at another brewery and some at Prairie.

It's a shelf turd, because it's $10 a bottle. It needs to be $15-20 a 4-pack. And I agree with you about their labels. Not sure wtf happened in that department!

They contracted their label art out to the local elementary school.

Yea, they don't work with Shelton Brothers. Contract brewery + shelton bros = expensive.

After reading this thread again, I'm really starting to dislike Shelton Brothers. A bottle shop owner today mentioned that Shelton Brothers has been known to sit on stock (Prairie included) for way too long, before the product reaches the stores/consumers. WTF is going on with this? Hate to ask, but would or does AB InBev operate in this manner? (Just askin)

Shelton Brothers is pretty awful. Huge markups, sit on things forever, and they screw over certain markets. NYC, in particular, seems to get it pretty bad. Hardly saw any BA Bomb here, and I'm not hopeful I'll land a Pirate Bomb.

Prairie isn't a contract brewery lol they just have 2 facilities, some brewed at Krebs and some brewed at the actual Prairie brewery. Something something talking out of your ass
