Some folks I know :wink: just posted a pic of an online order shipped from Asheville today, so it does work.

Well this is through a liquor Mart haha. So that's why I am like, can they get it? It seems like a reach but a buddy of mine in Pittsburgh said to try. The lady on the phone said they would put the order through the distributor.

Does the store rhyme with "Basty Teverage"?

Pazzo's in Lexington is taping a special Rhinegeist beer today.
I talked to a rep about it yesterday and he said it's likely the only time the beer will be in the state. If I recall he said it was an IPA but if you want to know for sure i'd call the restaurant. If anyone makes it there to try it let me know what you thought!

How do you find out when they are putting this stuff out? Their website hasn't been updated in years it seems and i'm not one for twitter really.

They do a lot of good stuff over here at http://www.lexbeerscene.com posting what is on tap and special events. They update their Facebook too. I usually stop in when I can to see what's on tap or check what bottles they are going to release soon!

So I was at CBB this afternoon to try the BBJSP on tap. If you had the bottle last year, this is very similar only with less bourbon and more oak, almost unpleasantly so as it warms up.

The bartenders said bottles should go on sale within a few weeks.

Just opened a bottle of Sinkhole Stout that I've been sitting on for a couple months. Was the consensus that this was infected? Got a vaguely rancid smell out of the bottle and extreme tartness out of the beer itself. Didn't know if they had cleared it up with later bottlings or if the whole batch was bad, but this is just not good at all.

Had it on tap the day they released bottles and something was definitely off with it. I never heard anyone officially say that it was infected, but it sure seemed like it was heading that way.

I will have to have my bottle in the next couple days. I know when I had it on draft, it had a tart cherry taste to it mixed with bourbon. I bought two bottles just curious to see how they would age, but that doesn't sound like an appealing beer. I know country boy said it wasn't infected but something definitely went somewhat wrong. This was a fantastic beer when I had it last year on draft!

If this was the 2016 bottle, I encourage you to contact the brewery on its FB page. I don't know what sort of response you'll get, but please say something.

Yeah, it was, got it right when the bottles came out here in Louisville. I never had the previous vintages, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to taste, but I got no barrel and no imperial stout, just tart and feet smell. I had heard tell of infection rumors before I bought so I knew what I was getting into, just wasn't expecting something so clearly off.

If you ordered thru a store in KY, there is no chance you get it. Any store that says they can order a full case for you has no idea what they are ordering.

If it's a store that has lots of craft offerings, you spoke to the wrong person.

At one of my newer stores, I get 4 or 5 notes a week from my clerks (low level employees that have little knowledge of the ordering process) asking for some beer "whale", pappy or weller 12.

@erichall I know it is a long shot. I know in PA, if you can get the beer, you will be able to request it. I know this place gets three floyds so it isn't a matter of "they don't get the brand so there is no chance"

We will see. Who knows! It's worth a shot haha

There's something clearly off, I agree. Until/unless someone takes it to BDAS and analyzes it (like the actually infected BCBBW) I don't want to go there.

I just think that for some reason, they cannot get a decent bourbon barrel anymore. That Rum Nate's is killer though.

^ I couldn't agree more about rum barrel aged nates coffee. That is a fantastic beer and one that highlights the rum barrel more than most beers I have had that utilized that type. The coffee comes through in the beginning but that fruitiness from the rum comes through in that after taste and as it warms. Great beer!

It would seem like maybe the barrel wasn't that high of quality. I will say I got a chance to see the barrels they used! My cousins husband bought one and it looks ok but it didn't have a label on it to see where it came from. All BA beer can turn out poorly do to the wildness the barrel entails but it does suck since this is a Kentucky brewery and in Kentucky, we know bourbon!

    3 Floyd's doesn't distribute to PA. Evidence: http://www.3floyds.com/distribution/
Also, It's illegal to ship alcohol into KY from retailers. So more than likely if it does ship, it'll be confiscated by the carrier and you'll never get what was in the package anyway. Just an FYI.

    @gibson534

I meant in PA, they can order a case of beer for me to hold at their location for me to come and purchase. I know three floyds doesn't distribute there. Lived there most of my life.

Placing an order at a beer distributor is not illegal. Asking if they can order the beer and hold it for me is common practice where I am from. Granted, the beer I usually order was for my old job and didn't include a whale like this. Remember, I haven't paid any money to this place yet. They took down my name and what I wanted. Again, it is a long shot but worth a try! Who knows, maybe I'll report back that they did get it haha I am Atleast hoping so!
